Hello folks,
Just a week ago I bought myself an Emerald Scorpion, and got a Grab Bag Dominix V2 without sound (Red), a Pike extension, a coupler and some extra blades. Everything was charged and ready to go right out of the box - and I've been having a blast since. So much so that Thursday morning at about 4am I couldn't take it anymore, and ordered myself another Dominix V2 (Red), an Aeon V2 without sound (Green), another Aeon V2 (Blue), along with some couplers to make staves out of them, and a Grab Bag of Blades. I'm basically funding what is hopefully going to be a blast of a time amongst my group of friends. And that 2nd purchase just happened to fall on the date that the newest Summer Raffle began, and am entered into that (may the odds be ever in all our favor).
In any case, like I've said in the few other posts I've made here - I'm new to the saber community, but I'm not new to modding things out, or taking on monumental creative projects. I'm a bladesmith (among other things), and am very crafty working with metal and blade design, so I can't wait to mix my other creative skillsets into modding some of these stunt sabers I bought.
So strong and immediate is this new addiction that I also decided to try my hand at making a Star Wars-style helmet/mask. I have no pics because I haven't begun fabricating anything yet, but I'm on the right path with it: I bought a full-steel WWII German Helmet replica, and already have a design laid out that will have me removing some of the steel from the helmet, and then constructing the rest of the helmet out of Kydex, heat-forming the mask pieces, eyelets, as well as leather.
Also, after looking into different voice modulators, one of the main complaints I hear about is that your voice ends up being louder than the speaker, so - this might be lofty and undoable - but I've found some small speakers that can be worked into the sides of the helmet that end up looking much the same as the "ears" of Starkiller's helmet from the Dark Side ending of Force Unleashed. If it can be done the voice modulator will end up being considerably louder.
But as far as actual voice modulators go, I'm not sure exactly where to look for what I'm wanting. What I want to go for is a voice closer to something like Dark Side Starkiller's voice, and less like Kylo Ren or Vader. While both Kylo and Vader's voices are super-cool, it's obvious that those are human voices, just amplified. Starkiller's voice is different - it sounds like damage happened to his voice box, and is fixed with cybernetics.
Any of you modders / cosplay folk out there have a clue where I may look for and find something like that?
