Unfortunately, "judgement" is a mistake that some are giving up on enforcing as such, the same as my personal pet peeve (and apparently Weird Al's, too!), of using "less" when you mean "fewer."
Only it's not a mistake? It IS an alternate spelling, although it's not a widely used one. Now, people can argue all day over what is grammatically correct and what is not, but it's a bit like "alright vs. all right." Technically speaking, "all right" is the correct usage, but "alright" has become accepted as an alternative. However, in formal writing, you would receive a lot of judgment for using "alright," so it's best to always use "all right," even though some grammar nerds argue that "The signs are all right" is not the same as "the signs are alright." ALL RIGHT? Alright. |

Ugh, "alright" gets on my nerves too...it drove me nuts when I was coauthoring with a group and one of the people in the group, who was otherwise an extremely proficient writer, kept "correcting" it whenever I used the proper form. So annoying!  |

Ugh, "alright" gets on my nerves too...it drove me nuts when I was coauthoring with a group and one of the people in the group, who was otherwise an extremely proficient writer, kept "correcting" it whenever I used the proper form. So annoying! I use "alright" in informal writing and in fiction. It's quite acceptable for dialogue and the thought processes of fictional characters. However, when I write formal academic papers, I do not use it. Still, "all right" is correct in any context and when in doubt, defaulting to it will never be wrong. The group is wrong to criticize you because you are always correct using that form, but they're also not wrong to use "alright," as it's WIDELY accepted in fiction. I used to be very, very staunch about grammar and spelling, but working in the editing field has loosened my grammatical grip quite a bit. Language evolves and while I may not agree with it, I have to at least acknowledge it and go on about my business. For example, I prefer "okay" to "OK," even though "OK" is the more common and most accepted usage. Visually speaking, "okay" is less disruptive to me, but both are still correct. There's even O.K., which I really don't like, but is still acceptable. LOL, language. |

My friends think I'm going to go this convention in Orlando next year and share a room with 6 people. Ha. Ha ha . . . HAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!! They severely underestimate the level of introvert that resides within my soul. Even if I had my own room to myself, I wouldn't go.  |

She's old, very deaf, slightly blind, and we live near 2 major roads.
My neighborhood is nice, but the people across us aren't the most trustworthy.
