How ordering two Ultrasabers can lead to having five.

I ordered two Ultrasabers for wedding presents: a Fulcrum and a Lost Grey.  Both have Emerald drivers, Obsidian v4a, with recharge ports.

But with these, I entered a raffle during Winter were you can get free Initiate and a free Mystery Box.

After entering the raffle, I won a First prize, which was a two channel Emerald saber with sound.

So this is what I got:





The Dark Apprentice LE v4 in Adegan Silver as the free Initiate.



The Sentinel LE v4 in I think Fire Orange as the free Mystery Box.


And first prize the Dominix LE v4 in Sentinel Yellow with flash on clash set to either Emeral Green or Sunrider's Destiny.


I've not yet messed with the new one to see if it has a Obsidian v3 or a v4.  I am not certain the saber is just a two channel Emerald as yellow is red and green, while Sunrider's Destiny I think uses blue and green.   I'll have to investigate later.

As for value:  Well some things are priceless.  I have suspect that the Fulcrum and Lost Grey are going to be wedding presents will be priceless.
(Notation: everything was 10% off and there was free shipping)

But for the rest (I don't know what I am going to do with these three yet):

Dark Apprentice LE v4 with no bells or whistles: $64.99 normal price.
Sentinel LE v4 with windows: $79.99 normal price
Dominix LE v4 with Emerald and sound with windows:  $349.99 estimated price

All Free  (The three of these together are worth about the cost of one of the two wedding presents)

I have not looked into the details on these three to see if they have heavy grade blades or not, nor have I checked the prize to see if it actually has a four channel Emerald or an Obsidian v4 or whatnot.  I am not sure if this has a two-channel Emerald driver in it, because right now you can't get a two-channel Emerald driver anymore.

Dude those are great wedding gifts! And nice gifts for yourself as well! And I will tell you that 1st prize is a 4 channel driver, so have fun with that (I got a 1st prize in the summer raffle that's how I know).

Now I just need to figure out the how and when I get those gifts to them, as they live in another state, and the wedding isn't for like nine months.

Still not sure what I will do with the other two free sabers.  They are v4 sabers, so they can take upgrades rather will.  I might send them back for conversions to have at least sound.  That would involve replacing the pommel for sure, likely the battery pack as well.  Might even just gut the rest and add different colors or just go for more Emeralds, but if I do that I'd probably want a recharge port (I don't like taking the batteries out to recharge them), and then we get to if I want to add a wheel to them for carrying around.

A lot of stuff I probably don't need to do since I usually just carry around the Archons at conventions.

I could donate them to work, but I don't have a clue what they do with them.   I could gift them to a co-worker or two, but I'd still likely need to send them for upgrading to get more approreate colors at the minimum.  Or I could upgrade them and give them as gifts to the two kids I gave the older v2 sabers to, the ones that couldn't be upgraded to sound.    So many choices.   I figuring out what to do with owing six lightsabers when I only have two hands, and not a lot of display space.

Nice. Guardian Blue for the Dominix Bellicose short grooves pommel or Manticore high pommel, maybe Emerald Green for the Sentinel LE Raven normal pommel, that'd look sweet I think, V3 sound at least and av switch upgrades. Just a thought for different looks though if you plan to do that =]

If I am going sound, it will be v4 sound for the "mute" feature alone.  That is worth $10 easily and I've been saying that since my first saber.  I got one Obsidian Lite due to the guy I was getting it for probably wanting to use AAA batteries over the Li-ion types.  It was an experiment, but by the time it arrived, I had already decided that any future sabers with sound would be v4 or better.  I have one Diamond, but still have not fully explored it to give a full opinion on its capabilities beyond the first impression that the switching voice is way too loud and goes on too long.  That and I'd like more slot options so I could have alternate colors with both sound and mute instead of just ten slots (I mean I could empty five slots for just mutes and have five more with a sound font of some kind so I've have five color/sound options plus a muted version for each color)  I know the Diamond has a lot more space in it than that, but the designer said something about people reasonably not wanting to have to cycle thought upwards of 60 selections to get back to where they started.

Basically did the same thing as the OP, except with Diamond driver boards on the two purchased sabers (because both my wife and I liked the looks of the Initiate V4 with windows... I got her the LE and went for the Dark Initiate myself).

The three free sabers were:
A Dark Apprentice LE V4 in Guardian Blue.
A Dark Initiate LE V4 (w/ LI pack and guarded switch) in Consular Green.
An Initiate V4 (w/ AV switch) in Consular Green.

Having bought two couplers (adj. flush couplers) with the idea of hooking my wife's and my diamond sabers together, getting a second set of compatible hilts for a stunt saberstaff isn't bad. Well technically, there are three possibilities for saberstaffs. An all dark, an all light, and two dark/light.

The only downside I've got right now is that the Dark Initiate has a LI-pack and the regular Initiate has a 4x AAA pack. The difference in brightness and runtime is noticeable. I may gut the Initiate and wire a LI-pack w/Buckpuck myself at some point, but for now I'm good.

I just wish I had had some of the luck other people have had when it came to pulls. Ah well... maybe next year. Definitely will look into a new custom saber if US expands on the MHS system.
