They probably have to pass through the middle of the board. Do the pieces have to follow the lines on the board? |

I wouldn't think so. Pawns can only move diagonally when attacking. |

Three player chess has been around for a while. My advisor at school was the Chess Club sponsor and has a wood set with red, green and blue pieces.
