I MUST add this to my to do list (it's a long list, lol) . . . someday, I WILL paint myself a white hilt, so thanks for your advice on how to do it (and even, where to buy the paint in OZ  Wink). . . cheers

So, understandably, I wasn't happy with the way the screw above the activation button was sitting, so I decided to fix it up. I painted a spare washer that I had black, re-drilled and tapped a hole, and then fixed it in place, so as to cover the other hole. Looks much better now!

Dude!!  This saber is wicked!!  I've been absent lately so I missed this- unreal!  So awesome Smiley.  Love the design/ concept and it turned out so amazing!  Incredible work.
