Jedi or Sith? Let the board decide my fate!

« on: May 02, 2013, 03:58:05 AM »

Anybody ever make their own lightsaber? Post a pic or three.

Here's mine.

It's no Ultra Saber, but i think it turned out pretty good. Grin

I like it but just without the spikes. Gives kind of a Sith feel to it. Unless if you do videos with roto scoping and the saber is a Sith.

I'm not finished with mine just yet. Decided to make a curved hilt out of PVC. Need to get an LED in there and waiting for the battery pack tomorrow. Here's what it looks like so far.

Sorry about that Big Boss, my bad. Undecided

A red blade would fit better. The spikes are more than decorative, I needed something to hold the pommel on. Tongue

Looking forward to seeing the finished product JP47.

Got any pics Master Kane?

Conviction for the win. I like the switch placement too. This makes me want to give it a go for a PVC build again. Lol. I tried before and majorly failed. Heh. But now that I know a little bit more about electronics I'll be fine. Wondering if the MLS LEDs would fit in 1 inch PVC? Doing it the old school way.

Go for it. Would make it a lot easier for me. Did you use US MLS unit for the LED set up or just hand make it piece by piece?

The MLS unit would work in the 1" opening, I use a copper cap from Home Depot with optics from tcss

Here is my project I made from a Heiland flash, hardware store parts, and an Armitage shank (sink handle) for the pommel.

In full light (indoors).  The blade isn't super bright, but it isn't bad for 12 volt LED taillight.  I picked it up from a site that sells accessories for cars.  It is held in by a standard taillight receptacle and runs off a 12 volt battery.  The 12 volts are used in wireless doorbells.

A view of the LED inside.

The blade extends about a half inch past the bolt on the bottom side.  I drilled a hole in the blade, so the bolt enters the blade sidewall preventing it from moving.  It is easily removable.

I was able to maintain some of the internal structure of the flash.

Standard rubber grips bookended with slip washers and coated in plasti-dip.  I planned to redo this to make it look nice, but never got around to it.

Sliding switched inserted into a small closet rod holder sandwhiched by multi-ply plastic and a piece of rubber.

Real deal Armitage shank.

If you were talking about mine, thanks!  I like to think I lean towards the light side.

I should say so! Very well done. Any plans to put some proper electronics in that saber?
