So as stated in the topic, I've never built a saber before. What are the pieces i need to make a basic one. So far I know i need a blade, battery holder, and body. I've also noticed that I will need to solder at some point. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!

Are you necessarily wanting a custom saber or does any of the already built sabers serve your purpose?

Some things to keep in mind if you are going to build sabers:

1.  The price of building one is only slightly cheaper (about $5) than having them do it for you.  Also, their built sabers have a warranty where one you do yourself will not.

2.  If you still want to do one yourself, you will need

a.  A battery pack
b.  Wiring
c.  A resistor or Buck Puck.  I recommend Buck Pucks for ease of use.
d.  Latching switch.
e.  LED compatible with the saber your are building
f.   Hilt
g.  Emitter if not alreay included with your hilt.
i.   Pommel
j.   Blade
