Specifically, I get the "red overpowers the other colors" thing going on a lot, and I got tired of replacing batteries.

I got to thinking, though, and I thought of something that I thought was worth asking about - does it matter if I have individual colors/buttons turned on when I store it with the master switch in the off position? Usually I store it with red and blue activated, but the master switch off.

Could leaving some of the three colors "on" even if the master switch is off affect battery drain? Should I turn off all colors in addition to the master switch? Just looking to get the most out of my batteries, thanks.

OK first off i am assuming u have obsidian board since u have a master switch, correct me if i am wrong but stunt RGB only have 3 latching switches so, im gonna say it shouldnt matter if u have colors pressed in as long as master switch is off and the LED turns off there should not be any battery drain, u could easily in stall a recharge port with kill key to completely kill the voltage for peace of mind, also u said replacing batteries do just mean switching out to charged li-ions?

no sound, no lithium ions.

well that is weird because you shouldnt need 4 switches the master switch is only for soundboard, unless they use it kill power to the other three switches when there is no soundboard installed also you really should switch to li-ions their is less voltage drop when they are going dead, personally i would switch to li-ions and add recharge port

i figured it was their because they use 4 switch setup with sound hence the hilt already has 4 holes so they wouldnt just leave a switch hole blank but my point is it serves no purpose other than to kill the power or complete the circuit and actually the dominix stunt rgb dont have a master use just use the 3 switches to complete the circuit so i am assuming he bought a sound capable saber  so if their is a master switch all it does complete the circuit so if that is indeed the case then if the master switch is off then it should not matter if the other swithes are latched there should not be any battery drain although switching to li-ions would be the best solution for him as i have turned on saber that have been sitting around for months with li-ions and they were still charged. Alkaline batteries really have no business in a saber they are just waste of money i have never had to replace any of the batteries in my sabers yet

I have an RGB saber with no sound but only 3 buttons. Why would they use 4 if not for sound/master switch set up? why do you need a fourth switch?

Hmmm.... could've sworn that almost all of the RGB stunts had a master switch.... in that case, perhaps I was mistaken.

If memory serves me correctly the older V2's only had 3 switches but with the V3's they added a master switch so you can add sound later. I could be mistaken though, that is just how I remember it. Akos_Amun's RGB saber is a nickle plated prophecy V2 if my memory is functioning right. I remember that it was a very eye catchy saber from when we did the flash mob. My RGB saber is a Shock LE with obsidian so it does have a master switch and I have had no problems leaving the Blue switch on but storing it with the master off. As in all things, check your batteries, and seriously consider upgrading to the li-lions there are worth every penny.

The Jedi are simple minded fools who try to avoid there feeling when feelings are the path of true power. The Sith on the other hand are just as foolish in only using anger to fuel there power. To unlock true power one must utilize all of one's emotions.

To answer the original poster's question:  A master switch on a stunt saber kills the power to everything.  If it is off, there should be no battery drain unless you have a circuit that is shorting against the hilt.   The reason your Red appears to overpower the others is that your Red LED uses less voltage than the Green and Blue.  When the power in your battery goes below a certain level, it cannot produce enough volts to feed anything but the Red LED.  I suggest using some NiMH batteries in place of the alkaline.  I have done this with all of my stunt sabers because Ninja is right, alkaline gets expensive after a while and rechargeable is better.  Switching to higher voltage LiIon batteries when you do not change your resistors or have a BuckPuck in place will fry your LED's.

To a history lesson:  The V2's that had RGB technology, there was only 3 buttons.  One for each color.  When newer sabers that were sound capable came forth, there was a 4th master switch placed on the rear of the hilt.  Ultra changed this with the War Glaive.  It was the first hilt to have the master switch in the front with the RGB buttons.  Now, the design stays the same until some new advancement comes forward.  As many of the hilts are produced to be sound or stunt, the master switch is still used as an all encompassing turn off.

Hopefully this answers the original poster's question and sheds light on the later discussion.

Have a nice night and happy sabering.
