Dark Shock LE -Fire Orange/Blazing Red

Well my new saber arrived, Five days after I ordered it. (Perks of living in So. Cal I suppose.)

First reaction -

Ultrasabers is now bubble-wrapping their sabers AND putting packing peanuts in with the sabers, that's a nice extra measure to make sure they arrive to us in PERFECT condition.  I'm saying PERFECT because that's what I see when I look at my Dark Shock, there is not a flaw on it, not in the hilt, not on the blade, no where. 

The Dark Shock is exactly what I was expecting; a shorter hilt that was lightweight.  I wanted a good one handed Sith looking saber, and I wouldn't change my order for anything. 

I ordered the saber in Fire Orange with a Red AV Switch; but I have a red MLS unit (which is seen in the video) that I planned to put in the saber from the beginning.  The Orange is...just not my color, it's not that bright to me, but it's definitely different. (I've seen all colors in person with the exception of Arctic Blue, SRD, Sentinel Yellow, and Adegan Silver.)

So my Sith saber is complete.

Hilt 10/10 - Totally what I expected.
Color (Fire Orange) 6/10 - Not bright enough to me.
Obsidian Sound - Of course it's worth it; it just makes it *FEEL* that much more real, and that's really what matters. 9.5/10 (I want my sidious font)

Nice Review! I have a Dark Shock LE as well! I was unaware that it was quick disconnect, there wasn't an option for me anyways. XD I love it. My character is based in the Old Republic, so the Dark Shock LE has a major Old Republic Sith feel to it.

Thanks for the review man, very helpful.  As a big Dark Shock fan, I'm glad to see a solid video showcasing it - it will surely be my next saber   Like you I'm in the market for a nice solid single hander to use either by itself or as my off hand weapon.

It's definitely light enough to be an off hand saber, I did get mine with a midgrade, so that affects the weight a bit.

I'd like to see a Dark Bellicose.  :nudge US:

They restocked a little while back.  It is Quick Disconnect compatible too, as you see above.

I might just go for a Shock LE then and make it a nice Sith saber while I can. xp I always did like the Shock. Looks like a fun saber to play with. Is it good for 2 handed combat though as well?

The thing is around 11" so it really depends on your hand size.  It could function as a two handed weapon very easily for someone with smaller hands.

@Nero. I got small hands so I would be good then. I think the Shock would be good for me anyway. Would a blue button go good with a red blade? Ultra Sabers has so many options now. o_o

TBH I was originally a bit of a snob about matching AV switches with blade colors.  However, I've become a bit more open minded since - sometimes nonmatching ones look quite good together!  The blue would look ok, though you could always wait for the red AV switch to be restocked.

Some members are saying that the blue button gives the saber a more futuristic look to it and I kinda agree. So I might go with a blue button unless the red one does get back in stock by then again. My MHS saber thats broken right now is a little above 11 inches so I would be used to a short hilt. (Atleast I think its above 11 inches, could be wrong).

I know what you're saying, and I agree partially.  Like dual wielding, I like to use colors that have a common color - for instance I was getting a Sentinel Yellow saber and contemplating a red or green AV switch (since red and green make yellow).  Likewise, the blue AV works nicely for a VA or AB (or SRD) saber I think.
