Can the Obsidian board be run off a single Li-on cell?

So I went and built myself a hilt, but I did naff all research into how big the stuff that needs to go inside is.  So now I have a hilt too small to hold 2 AAs side by side.

It's just been sitting there for months taunting me.  I do want to finish it off, but I've had zero luck finding a vertical 2x AA battery holder.  So before the fool in me comes out and starts taping batteries together, just a quick check first to see if it could run off a single cell.

I understand that running it off a single cell would mean reduced "playtime" and the possibility of a dimmer blade, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice just to see my baby live.
