I was just curious, for those that have been US customers for a while, how well do the sabers age after a few years?  I mean do they function as well as when you first got it?

Hi.  That is a bit of a loaded question as people will treat their sabers differently.  Those that look after them or use them somewhat lightly or less often, should have a saber that works well over the years.  Generally the more wear from regular sparring, spinning and dropping may put more of a strain or fatigue on for example the internal wiring.  However this usually can be fixed.  Extremes in temperature also is not ideal.  The saber itself is very well made and with normal use should last for a long time.  Scuffs and other marks only adds to the look and story of your saber.

Recently I received a first version stunt Shock LE.  The saber was in good condition with some scuffs and wear mainly on the end of the pommel and on the blade tip.  The person had not removed the AAA batteries and they were cheap, old and corroded on to the plastic battery holder.  I was able to chip off the hardened battery acid from the holder with a metal dental pic and put in new batteries.  Checked the wiring and all connections were solid.  Turned it on for a bright beautiful guardian blue.  Smiley

My favorite saber was purchased about 6 years ago, I have used it for heavy full contact sparing (I take kendo so this really is some heavy sparing) and I get it out most weekends.
The Saber in question is a catalyst in blazing red, The original blade it came with I am still using today, there are a few dings and dents and even a cut or two (very minor doesn't seem to have altered the blades integrity at all) from the sparing. I have however had to purchase a new tip as I finally lost it one night when it popped off in the dark. The tips pop off occasionally, its not a major, find it and glue + tape it back on. (I use super glue and clear builders tape as I find that both together keeps the tips secure much better than glue alone) but finally I lost it in the black of night.
In terms of the hilt the only damage to the hilt is the battery cage has finally given out on me, so while ordering my latest saber I ordered a new battery cage to come with it for me to replace the current one with. However the saber still works when the cage is taped up.

All in all this saber has been through hell and back with me and shows very little signs on the brutal life it has had. In face, its my opponents bamboo swords (the official swords used for kendo sparing) that have, over the years taken the real punishment of the saber.

Just to clarify the cuts on the blade are super minor and were caused by the meeting of the blade and the emitter of a Standard issue V2 staff at full speed. I was trying to take their wrist, I got them, but the shot glanced off their emitter first.
Also the reason I talk about only 1 saber is this is my most used saber so I figure its really the best idea of a well used sabers wear and tear over time.
I always spar with Standard heavy grade blades.

I started my collection during the last
spring raffle and wondered about their
longevity. I know they are well built for
combat and good to hear these testimonies
It builds assurance and confidence
Thanks guys

Thanks for all the replies. I just like having a little reassurance is all. I don't plan to do much dueling with my sabers, so I guess I shouldn't have anything to be concerned about.
