Emerald + Obsidian for duels?

Hey everyone.

I looking at splurging and getting myself a Catslyst with Emerald drivers and he Obsidian sound board + heavy ultra edge blade.

I know all sabers can be used to duel, I currently have a Dark Standard that I like to use, but I like the option to change colours and sound effects. I will be using this for fun and in my comic-com costume.

Has anyone had issues using their emerald driver+ sound board saber for heavy duels? I'm worried a good blow will cause the chips to loosen inside or perhaps break.

Is it discouraged to use this for actual duels?

Nah, you'll be fine so long as you don't go slamming it into walls hilt-first or anything.

If you have any concerns, keep using your current hilt to build up your confidence, but unless you're dropping your hilt a lot I shouldn't worry. These things are built to last.

Even dropping it many times shouldn't harm the boards that much. As James said, they're built to stand up exactly against those incidents

It is worth noting that the sound board is encapsulated, the side with all the components on it is coated in black epoxy - which is partly where it gets it's name. This epoxy is really tough.
It is pretty darn hard to damage the sound board due to this detail.

The components won't pop off. In fact, even with a circuit board that isn't epoxy dipped it takes heat and or "catastrophic" damage to remove an electronic component. I did Electronics in high school and we actually destroyed non-functioning electronics in order to learn just what it takes. You pretty much need to remove the circuit boards from inside the sabre and intentionally smash them with a hammer or other equally extreme methods.

I don't recommend trying this of course.
