Hey guys, first post here :3
Just wondering if there's any out there who agree with me in that Soresu is the most reliable of saber forms. I think so, just due to the nigh on invulnerability afforded to a master. Anyone agree, disagree?
Thoughts please?

Thanks,
Pork.

I can't say it's the most reliable, but I do like to use it. I work with both soresu and juyo.

I dunno, It just seems to be all that works for me. That and mixing Soresu with Makashi, for saber on saber. For some reason, I always have opponents using staff instead of single...

Thanks for the response Smiley

How interesting, we three are Dark-Siders, and yet we use a decidedly Jedi style as a base.

My intended final style goal is Shien/Djem So with a base influence of Soresu, I feel that Soresu is the logical step before using the defensive-redirection of Shien, which will lead to the redirection-to-fatal-blow concept of Djem-So. so yes, I am a fan of the style and encourage it as a learning step-stool.

as for the staff-wielding opponents, go for the elbows!

I don't believe any form is confined to being a "Jedi form". Juyo is generally a strict dark side form but it was used by some Jedi. I would imagine learning saber combat is quite similar if one is either dark or light sided, so in the sense of the matter it's just a form we've chosen to demonstrate.

Come to think of it, the original Forcesabers were powered by dark side force, and eventually led to the lightsabers we know and love today. So does that mean that at the root of it, all forms of saber combat are technically dark side creations?
