Hi all,

Just hoping that you can help me understand a few things I've been intrigued by as I've looked through the topics, videos and pictures posted by various forummers, and US themselves.

1. Yari extensions - This seems obvious, but... the Yari segments all have female ends, so you need a coupler to pair each one with a 'sabre or another coupler, is that correct? Also, is it only the coupler immediately attached to the 'sabre that needs vents, or does every coupler need them?

2. RGB - I'm sure there's a video out there than answers this, but I haven't been able to find it: Exactly what colours can you make with the combinations?

3. Manticore - Where does the pommel on the Manticore unscrew? I'd assumed that the whole silver section at the bottom was the pommel, but looking at Noriko's staff (*drool*), it seems I was wrong and it's just the very bottom-most section. Can anyone confirm, please?

4. Blade length - My wife has expressed an interest in dueling me occasionally, and obviously this is something I'm keen to encourage! She's 5' and slightly built, whereas I'm 6' and heavily built. The 36" blade I have on my Aeon is too long for her, so I'm thinking of getting a 24", which could also do for our daughter if I ever let her anywhere near my 'sabres. However, dropping from 36" to 24" seems a lot. Can anyone closer to my wife's height than mine offer an opinion on a good blade length, please?

I think that's everything for now... I may be back with more later, but thanks in advance for the help!

ok, lets start.

1. yari extensions are indeed female at both ends. so yes, you need couplers. the vents need to be at the saber for sound - but it might sound cool all the way down!

2. blue, red, green. then purple, a kinda yellowey, a greeny blue, at last (all on) off whiteish kinda colour. this could be confirmed my someone more knowledgable than me.

3. bottom most section for low profile pommel, for high profile its a little bigger.

4. i use a 32" blade for myself - good length and good control. id reccomend that. buy a 36" blade, then ask for your blade to be cut to 32" in the comments box at the checkout.

hope this helps!!!

Thanks, folks.

I forgot to ask one thing about the Manticore: It seems like it's a decent one-handed weapon, based on pictures and videos, but also usable as a two-hander (especially with the high-profile pommel). Can anyone confirm this, please?

Well the prophecy is the same length and I can use it as a two-hander. Manticore should be easy to two hand as well.

Of all my collection, the Manticore is the MHS saber I like best for dueling. In many ways, I like the Liberator best of all, but I probably use the Manticore the most because of how customizable it is. (I highly recommend you get QD even if you have to pay for them.) Sometimes it's blue with an Arcon emitter. Sometimes it's red with a Malice or War Glaive emitter. Sometimes you just use the Manticore emitter because it's actually quite awesome in it's own right.
But like the Liberator, the thing it really has going for it the fact it completely works one handed or two. Most of my sabers are amazing for just playing with or choreographing because they'll fit a certain style best. Lots of spinning with the Prophecy. Lots of over the head brute strikes with the Monarch. But the Manticore is what you want for actual down and dirty saber fighting. It spins beautifully, you can use it with both hands if you want or two, it is very light but with that omph behind a blow that keeps it from bouncing off too much, and can even be used really well in a reverse grip if that's your thing. I use it for fencing style matches with one brother and for just wale on each other until someone gets hurt matches with the other.
And I now, I will stop gushing. If you have any other specific questions, I do have one with all the goodies (sound, FOC, a/v) and will do my best to answer.

Thanks Jare,

I put up a general discussion to help me decide over at http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=13547.msg210024 - I was always thinking that the Manticore would be one of the contenders, and the help you guys have given me has just confirmed it. It hasn't made choosing any easier, though! Cheesy
