Hello all!
My order arrived today! Anyways, I thought I'd give a short review of my first impressions.
I ordered on 1/3, arrived 3/12. Considering there was a winter giveaway prize delaying the start time for production, that's very good time in my opinion.
First things first, the non lightsaber stuff.
3 battery rechargers, nice!
3 plugs
2 end cap pieces (taken off from the dark apprentices)
2 bags of color bits for the dark apprentices (I also have a Lee Film book that I'm going to mess with)
tiny hex key
business card and directions for li-ion batteries
pager clip (we have one like this for the trauma pager in blood bank, lol)
and a tshirt!
I've looked around and found that a lot of people were getting like 4xls, so I'm glad I got a medium. This is the funniest shirt I own, actually:
It comes very close to the greatest shirt I've ever owned, purchased for me at a thrift store by my mom because it said 'Alaska' on it:
No, she didn't get it. I'm pretty sure this got turned into auto rags.
Anyways, enough fluff. Lightsabers!
This is the Dark Apprentice in Adegan Silver.
It's off because they're SO LOUD! Is there any way to muffle these things or do I need to break out my ear plugs?
Anyways.
I chose white because I was indecisive at the time. Hindsight 20/20, I should have gotten red. I also should have gotten the quick release, and probably shorter blades. I'm not sure on that just yet, because I haven't messed around with them enough. If it bothers me enough, I can always order replacement parts. Its got a good balance, and the hilts aren't that heavy. There's only one pager clip, and its at the end of one blade (so in the middle when they're attached). I'm not sure how that's going to work out, as I haven't pulled the blades out to check and I'm too short for the clip to work while the blade is in.
I like the subtlety of it, and the color of the hilt. This will be fun to customize. I'm thinking go Crow and stay monochrome but go crazy with textures and material.
Grab Bag:
This is the Aeon AE V4! I requested SRD, and a pager wheel.
I love it! I have to say, I didn't really like the way this hilt looked on screen. I thought the gold color looked a little gaudy, and its
so gauche to mix metals~
I was totally wrong though. It's really gorgeous, and I like the weight of it. I have tiny hands, so it's unwieldy to hold it in one hand, but its great for a twohanded grip (I didn't mention this for the DA, but it is more comfortable for smaller hands.)
SRD is beautiful!!!! It parsed blue on ultrasabers, but I'm glad its a bit greener. It fits really well with the hilt. I'm 100% looking forwards to messing around with it.

A Reaper!
Okay, an aside. When I finally checked my email and realized I won something, I very quickly came up with a short list of sabers I did not want. The Monarch topped that list. I don't want to be rude, but it looks like umm... well. It looks bad, and I really did not want to have to a conversation if someone ever saw it without the blade. War Glaive, Butcher, and unfortunately Reaper were on that list too.
I personally don't really like the look of claws, also I'm a clumsy idiot, and would stab my eye out and then have to tell the ER staff how that happened. Then I would have to quit my job and find another hospital to work at.
Wahwahwah aside. I actually kind of like it. I removed the bottom cap and replaced it with one of the spares from the DA. If I could find a way to remove the claws and keep the slanted parts, I'd love it. It's heavier than the Aeon, but its not unwieldy. It's not shorter, but it feels shorter because of the little ridges above the on button. Good balance. I really like the etching on the hilt.
It is also too loud, but its an Emerald driver with a blue and a pink (I think) LED. I haven't played with it in the Emerald driver yet. I also haven't played with the soundboard (maybe I can find a QUIETER sound font).
Anyways, that's my VERY first impressions review. I'm overall very happy! I know it sounds like a lot of complaining, but that really is nitpicking, and its all stuff I can fix easily (and also first impressions. Maybe once I find my ear plugs I'll realize I love the silver color).
