If you’re feeling oversaturated with goody-two-shoes superheroes, there’s an antidote on the way in the form of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros.’ upcoming supervillain team-up movie featuring the bad guys and girls of DC Comics. Set in the newly-established DC Extended Universe, Suicide Squad sees Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) put together a black ops team called Task Force X, comprised of some of the most dangerous criminals in the world – ideal for sending on missions that are almost certain to end in fatalities.

On the team are Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Slipknot (Adam Beach), and Katana (Karen Fukuhara). The man in charge of wrangling these morally bankrupt miscreants is Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), and somewhere in the mix (though not on the team) is the most infamous DC villain of them all: The Joker (Jared Leto). The film was written and directed by David Ayer (Fury).

With the second Suicide Squad trailer just a couple of days away, Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the very first poster for the movie. Not only that, but the studio has also released character posters for the main Suicide Squad players, which have been distributed via the social media accounts of the various actors portraying the characters. Check out the assembled posters below.

Much of Suicide Squad‘s core audience is already excited about the movie, and has been since the excellent first trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con last year. The real challenge for Warner Bros. will be selling a movie largely comprised of lesser-known actors playing lesser-known comic book characters to casual moviegoers. So far a lot of the marketing has been based around the appeal of Leto’s Joker, but now it seems that the studio is making an effort to push Suicide Squad‘s antiheroes into the popular consciousness.

“Worst. Heroes. Ever.” is actually a pretty great tagline for Suicide Squad. It’s attention-grabbing and injects an element of humor into the movie’s marketing – similar to the second trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. What Suicide Squad really needs is a marketing campaign similar to that of 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, which has brought a medium-level comic book character to public attention by sheer force of will.

We don’t need convincing, of course. Suicide Squad was at the #2 spot on Screen Rant’s list of Most Anticipated Movies of 2016 – placing even higher than Batman v Superman – and we can’t wait to see the trailer when it lands next week.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016, which is followed by Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016; Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017; Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017; The Flash on March 23, 2018; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League Part Two on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and then Green Lantern Corps. on June 19, 2020.
