I believe the led in the av switch is already hard set. IF you buy a blue av switch it will always only be blue. Same to say if you put a luxeon Red led on a emerald driver it will only always be red even tho its on a emerald driver. You would have to use the 4 channel led with the 4 colors you want to mix  in order to make full use of the emerald driver. I currently have a graflex 2 channel driver and it is only red and green channels. with the blade on you can see the shades  of colors that you can mix. When I take the blade off and shine led on the wall that is where I see the separate colors reflecting on the wall. They blend in the blade but are actually only 2 separate lights operating at the same time. IF they came out with a 4 led av switch you would be able to change colors on the fly by putting the switch in series with the led. So when you select red both the led and switch will light red etc...They are on the same circuit. But as technology is right now the av switch is blue on a red channel will still show blue.

Correct. The channels just send the proper voltages to the diodes. To get full modification on the Emerald driver, I'd request all channels loaded up to the Emerald (RGBA/W), and the AV switch hooked up traditionally to the battery lead as they are on non-Emerald setups. I'm pretty sure this is possible for Ultrasabers to do, if my memory of the Emerald videos I watched serves. This would allow all 4 channels to be controlled through the software, and the AV switch would only light up when the saber is on - just like I like it, personally.

If you run the AV switch in Direct Drive, which is with the AV switched wired directly to the batteries, then the AV switch would be illuminated whenever the batteries are in the saber.

Oh yeah! Then a kill key in the recharge port would do the job of shutting the AV switch off. Finally, a use for a kill key and recharge port!

Thanks for the clarification, DK! DS point awarded! Grin

Though the kill key will only work if the recharge port is wired for it.  I believe that if you order a recharge port with a 0.2A charger then it will be wired this way by default, but I could be wrong.  Either way recharge ports are useful.  And if you get it wired for direct drive then you can always use the AV switch as a nightlight of sorts.  Or if you don't want this than you can always leave your sabers in a room the nobody sleeps in or where nobody will be bothered.

You have to select the option to have the kill switch installed. If you wire it up so the AV switch is always on, you'll want the 1.2 amp charger, because the AV switch draws 0.2 amps of current to stay lit.

Yeah that's what I ordered for mine.

ok; I ordered mine to be connected in series with the 4th (white) led of the emerald driver.
Now if that doesn't do well for me, can I change it so that it is connected directly ?
CanI do it myself ?

This is just a guess, but I would say that for most people the answer is no... however, im sure that if you know what your are doing with electronics then you could potentially do anything to your saber... If you know how to solder wires and all that stuff you could build the whole thing yourself from scratch so I dont see why you couldnt rewire it....
