for my lam..er...low brass friends, because it seems that finding decent secondhand professional trumpets is rather easy I decided that I would nose around the low brass and see what I could find.

Conn is a well respected brand that I am fairly familiar with.

For a long time Olds was one of the big five, (Bach, Olds, Benge, Buescher, and Conn), of trumpet making, I assume that they made trombones to the same level.

Another Olds.

I have heard of barnet, but I don't really know anything about them, but 15 hours left and the bidding at $34, it may or may not go up a bunch in the last few minutes.

I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM!!!! I CAN STOP WHENEVER I LIKE!!!!!

Frizz, I'm fairly certain the horn I played in high school was a 70s vintage 71H. It had the F attachment but that's it, just like the one in the picture there... good times!

I was curious after talking to my friend about his Soviet Lithuanian Conn 71H copy so I started looking around for anything I could find on Soviet copies of American and British instruments. It turns out that they had a habit of acquiring and reverse engineering a lot of our stuff, but nobody thinks about the musical instruments that they ripped off. It is rumored that they made more Bach Strad 37 copies than Bach made real ones! They copied French Besson short model cornets, Besson 2-20s, Courtois flugelhorns, Conn cornets, trombones, and (mainly) french horns!

But they also made a lot of instruments of their own design, they actually should be given credit for their ingenuity when designing rotary trumpets and compact euphoniums. So I an looking for a Russian/soviet rotary trumpet, the odder looking the better.
