BioWare has announced their MMO, Star War: The Old Republic, will be free-to-play beginning this fall. The free-to-play feature will give gamers access to the first 50 levels and all eight playable and character classes. There will be some limitations with the free-to-play model. Gamers who are playing the free-to-play SWTOR model will be able to purchase items they lack with Cartel Coins.

A subscription option will still be available for those who want to access higher-level content and unlimited game access.

"Players want flexibility and choice. The subscription-only model presented a major barrier for a lot of people who wanted to become part of The Old Republic™ universe," said Matthew Bromberg, GM of BioWare Austin.

SWTOR will go one sale this August for about $15, including a one-month free trial.

BioWare has reported a steady decline of subscriptions for SWTOR since its release in late 2011. Many have speculated the MMO would eventually become a free-to-play game. Are you surprised by their announcement?

Seriously? $15? I just bought it for 40... if they could have told us before that'd be great, but nooooooooo. But up to level 50 doesn't still seem that much. I think I will see how I feel once my game time runs out.

Seriously?  I just canceled my sub because I was bored of the game, and now they make it free to play.  Meanwhile, I spent like $60 on the game itself and lord knows how much on the subscription fee...

Screw them, I'm refusing to play on principle at this point.

It's still too much for me to deal with time-wise. I've got an extremely addictive personality, so I steer clear from MMOs entirely.

I have my Republic characters on Ebon Hawk, and my Imperial/Empire toons on Harbinger.  They are the most populated, making it easy to find teams to help with Heroics, and Flashpoints.

Populated is good, I found that out the hard way lol

The game was hyped too much. I too played this, but somehow it could not hold me to it. soon after that server were going empty. I was once the only online in 3 different planets.. Anyway even if i would decide to start agian, i could not play with you guys since i live in europe.

Yeah I was on Darth Sion and rarely playing because there were only around 10 people on every planet. Luckily they started up free server transfers and I moved over to Drooga's pleasure barge and its 150 to 200 per planet. SWTOR biggest problem is its system requirements I know a lot of people that would love to play but can't.

Anyway Rifter and I are both IMPs on Drooga's Pleasure Barge if anyone wants to come join us.

I'll definitely be playing then! I wonder if I'll be able to use my characters from my free trial? If they're even still there...

TJ, don't worry, your characters are still there. It saves them like on the bioware system or something, so they are always there. So everyone come to Drooga's pleasure barge, we can all make one giant guild. Though the bad thing about the free is it stops at 50, and that is when you can go on raids and such, so I hear.

look into DDO, it seems like its going to run a lot like that

A Saber Forum guild would be sick, I'd even make a jedi character if need be. The end game stuff starts at 50 but from my WOW friends the end game is where SWTOR is a little lacking, I'm not a huge fan of it with strangers, I hit my fifty and start a new character usually. But I have to say gaming with Rifter tonight was really fun.

It's way too early for me to think, but this afternoon I can log on and list my toons on DPB. We should def make a guild. That would be so sweet.

I have done some of the post-50 stuff, and it's ok, but it's really grindy. I much prefer the getting-to-50 process. Now I just need to kill the last boss on my troop so I can get my legacy story unlocks and I can shelve her and work on somebody else.

When i played i was a pvp addict, frequently getting most medals in a match. Guardian, Shadow, and Sage, did it on all three.

I really love guardian and shadow pvp.

Downloaded a copy and started up the Free Trial to warm up before the full F2P, and I must say I'm enjoying it so far. The game is better than I imagined... But still not worthy of a monthly subscription IMO.

Then again, I only reached around level 6 then switched class, to get an overall feel for the gameplay. Not really enough to form a proper opinion on the story/classes yet.

Personally, I felt like it got much better once you got off your starting planet.  It might have had something to do with getting your own lightsaber though ;)

Yeah, if I'm already enjoying it without lightsabers... I'll have a blast when I get my hands on one xD

I'll be switching my characters over. I may bring my Jedi Knight to the guild. Or my Shadow, I'm not sure.... I could always just bring my smuggler too....

Yeah, they limited the opitons for where you could go depending on where you started, and they respected PvP->PvP server, PvE->PvE etc. I have my first 50 on a dead PvP server that I'm hoping I'll be able to transfer to Drooga's someday (when they open up for-pay unrestricted transfers.... if that ever happens...).

My Jedi are all on a pvp server, my two sith are on pve.

I say PvE is the best, and Sith all the way, they have the best classes, woo go Force lightning. As for a Server, if Drooga's PLeasure Barge is open you should join that one.

Ebon Hawk is PvE, I hate PvP because I hate being ganked while I'm minding my own business.

Sith or Jedi it doesn't matter, you can make both on the same server.

My characters are on Corellian Run(PvE) if anyone wants to join me.

PvP is pretty neat, but I kinda prefer PvE.  I dunno, whichever you guys prefer.

I gotta say I lean towards Republic (because I love playing Jedi), but that's just me.

Everyone has characters everywhere, I think the idea is more going to be for everyone to reroll somewhere new where we are all starting fresh so we can play together.

ive got a shadow and a guardian decked out in pvp gear, and sitting with a couple million credits between them, but its on a pvp server, and too many people dont like open world pvp and refuse to play there, so i have to start over. Everyone is going to be in the same boat.

sorry kham been meaning to post here im glad your gonna make it over here in swtor as i said in another articule i rerolled myself to play with a friend in shii-cho which i had to turn around and transfer to jedi covenant all sith side i rerolled my original warrior from a juggernaut to a marauder(which has cooler abilities than sentinel just how i like to play the warrior class in all games i was a fan of the berserker and reaver specs in dragon age) i got a powertech and sorcerer

Pretty much, if a the population is good on ebon hawke i vote we stay there. The people that are there and established can help the rest of us out the way i did for nero and artorius

We should open up a poll for empire vs republic side and take a vote, get everyone that intends to play to vote, and then roll characters there, that way we can all play together, run pvp premades, flashpoints, operations, questing, etc.

once we get everyone there we can decide on a guild name.

Fine, if no one wants Drooga's, which is the best server in my opinion, then I'll go to stupid Ebon Hawk. As an Emperial Agent, imps all the way. But as I love Force users and double blades, I'll play in the republic side as well as the Jedi consular(I think that is the one with the double bladed saber staff.)

All right, I'm gonna just add a poll here to decide on Republic vs Empire.  We should pick one and at least attempt to stick to it, so we can all get in one guild.

Going against type, i voted empire, ive got a guardian, and 2 consulars that ive gone through the storyline on, and its likely a guardian i wouldbe playing again anyways.

Pureblood lightside sith juggernaught for me i think.

I really want a Force user, and don't feel like really playing a warrior or inquisitor again(those are on another server in another guild). Since that guild is Empire, I want this to be Republic, that way I can have a new story by being a consular, and still use the Force.

So Galactic Republic, but if ends up being Empire, I will make an IA and a new warrior,(which would be best anyway.)

Edit: Anyone wanna get a ventrillo thing set up, so we can chat with each other while we play, cause I dont know if skype will work with TOR.

I hate my Jedi Sentinel broken class.

My new character I'm gonna create will be a Trooper. Got to level 20 with my trooper before I quit playing, and I think that class had the most interesting story. :)

Looks like it's a tie for now. We -could- always play one side, then go for the other... I plan on doing that, since I want to see all sides of the story. Focusing too much on one character/side isn't really my style.

I gotta say that opening cinematic and the cinematics for each side are amazing.

So far Sith Empire's in the lead. I'll figure out how to git my Bounty Hunter over to Ebon Hawk...

Although I've changed and started over on 5 different servers, mainly changing cause a lack of players, I'll give it a go on the Ebon Hawk so I can toon with the Forum people.  I'll be going Imperial, and probably Soceror.  Will let you know what the toon's name will be later.

Any thoughts as to times and days people will be on.  would hate to get something going on another server and then people not playing.

they have closed a pile of servers, and condensed hte population, you can actually find groups easily enough as i hear it

and as you can tell with the last couple pages, we are trying to get everyone together in one place

It's exactly that, Role Playing.

You can RP your character there without fear of people being turds to you because, "This isn't an RP server get that *Bleep* out of hear."

Loving the BH character over on Ebon Hawk. When the game came out I always wondered why anyone would be a non force user, but having gone through all but the Sith Warrior class through at least level 10 (10 BH, 19 Sith inquisitor, 50 Imperial Agent) I have to say the non-force users have a way better story line, at least on the imperial side.

Hopefully we get everyone together soon.

It's the same on the republic side too. The Jedi Knight story is your over done you need to stop a doomsday machine story. The trooper story line is basically you're trying to bring your former squad mates that defected to the empire back to face charges of treason. WAY cooler IMHO. ;D

i liked the doomsday machine story!! It felt star wars to me, and i loved going through it

Well I've run my course for all eight classes and races.

They're all at lvl 15 waiting for me to either buy the game or wait for it to go f2p.

I think I'll do two classes.  I've got my soc close to deciding on dps or healer.  Any suggestions?            My other class will be a Jugg.     Both toons will be dark side, I tried light side, but just doesn't seem fun being a nice sith:)

A healer seems preferable, since Marauders are better for DPS from what I hear(haven't actually researched it). And yeah, while my Marauder will be a nice guy, I'm going full sith a-hole on my next one(haven't decided class yet)

K, will go healer.    I have'nt committed to a Jugg yet, and could change to a mau.  I've got a mau on another server, but might change if there are too many Juggs.  Maus do look cool dual weilding:)

tom i played a jugger(28) for awhile but i think marauders(17) more fun but its best with a friend along and as the inquisiter goes i think sorc(16 atm) has a far better tree than asssasin(got one to 17) so decide for yourself brother

On the Drooga's Pleasure Barge I have a Maurader and Soceror, both currently at level 37.  I have used the middle tree (DPS) for both and have had no problems getting knocked off.  Figured I would do the soceror on the Ebon Hawk server as a healer since no one else said they were going to heal.  I may just do the Mauader again, will cross that bridge when I close my eyes and pick-haha.

I love the game! I'll still continue my paid subscription as I really enjoy raiding in the operations (not available with free play). The game is a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing more people play it! If you have trouble choosing a server The Fatman is a good one ! I'm in a well established Lightside guild there (Force Effect). My Jedi Sentinel is named Kamakazy.

I hate EA. All I wanted was to play the story of each class, so all the inventory/raiding/etc restrictions didn't matter squat to me. Now how am I supposed to play through all classes, if I can only have 2 chars active? Damn you EA. And damn you too, Bioware, for listening to these mother(beep)ers. And for the ME3 endings. And for DA2.

Interesting, I also do the subscription.   But here is a thought for those that have more than two toons and will not be subscribing -- If the current f2p will allow it -- Since you will be limited to two toons, pick the two that you like the best.  As for the other toons you have created, that will eventually be locked up, sell off their stuff then email the money and color/power crystals (that has been collected) to your two main toons.  Keep in mind that you can only email imp-to-imp and rep-to-rep.

I have done this a few times with less that 15 lvl toons that I didn't eventually care for the name, or some other reason.  Doing the above will give your two main toons some extra money. 

That's not that surprising that's what most f2p mmo's do. They lock all the slots except for two its really nothing new. Besides you still can just create three other yahoo accounts, and put two other toons on each email. You'll have to log in more, but you'll still be able to play all the toons.

Yeah, I guess. If only they weren't so greedy and lowered that subscription to, say, 7 bucks a month I'd pay for it. But 15 is a little too much IMO. Maybe I'll play the first free month, then grab one month of subscription. 2 months should be enough to get all my toons through their story, and with the august sale it would still cost less than the full game would.

Thought I would throw this out for discussion:  What/how are we planning to play in this guild?  By this I mean are we going to:  "Play on our own" and meet every so often to do heroics; or, are we going to establish some times in advance to meet and run through everything on a peticular planet as a group?

I have been in several different guilds and in most of them I've seen the different players on different planets throughout the galaxy, but none wants to group up to do FPs.  Most of the 50 lvls tends to hang out at the fleet station and do their dailys and weeklies.

I think playing whenever is fine, with so many of us starting fresh there should be lots of opportunities to group.

At 50 (okay before then as well) I pretty much lived in the war zones. I love pvp.

Bummer!  My Republic characters are on Ebon Hawk, and my Imperials are on Harbinger. 

Throwing rocks or shooting lightning:)  During chapter one both charactors are pretty much doing the same thing, and would be spoiling it if I said anything else.

My first ever SWTOR/online game that I played was a Consular that healed.  I personally had issues with healing and fighting at the same time, and always needed help with quests.  Now I think it was a matter of making bad choices with gearing and modding that made the toon week.  Much exp from trial and error later; I have a Socerer that is DPS and a Consular that is DPS and they are pretty much the same except for:
thowing rocks versus shooting lightning, and being lightside versus darkside.

One the Ebon Hawke server I am tooning a socerer that heals

I've have a BH mercanary that heals, level 12. (I've never been a healer before so I don't know how well I'll do in that role) and a level 10 Sith warrior maurader.

I'm loving the maurader, almost as fun as the Sniper agent, but with a lightsaber.

i made a new account because my old one got locked (forgot my login stuff) and didn't feel like calling customer support.  I'm playing a bounty hunter and a trooper right now, since it's free to play up to lvl 15.  I'm on Ebon Hawk.  I'll probably switch to Jedi Knight and have that as my main class when the game goes totally free to play in November.

I'm currently playing my BH Mercenary(Wreev) and my Sorcerer(Seifnus), so if y'all bump into me don't be afraid to call me out ;D

In case no one else knows about it, there is a "Sith Lore" item in the Dark Temple on Drommund Kaas. It is on the other side of the hall across from the medical droid.   Kinda funny, as long as I have been playing I never noticed it before today.

Unfortunately my main is a level 34 Jedi Guardian so I guess I won't be able to play with many people because they're all dark side.  I do have a level 21 Juggernaut but I don't plan on playing him anymore..

well the whole point is for everyone to reroll together on the same side once it goes f2p

many of us have level 50 characters on other servers and will be re-rolling

honestly you should join us, if we get everyone out we can have a decent little guild put together

I dont believe paid transfers exist as of yet

currently its just the transfers that bioware has offered because of servers being closed

TJ, suggest you just go to the new server and start new charactors.  Veldyrne is right, transfers were only to facilitate the closing of servers.  I know long ago (in a galaxy far away) transfers was advertised, but nothing has come about it.  There was some discussion once about them allowing transfers to "play with friends", but there would be a cost to transferring charactors...this too has not come about yet.

Yeah and some people are a lot farther along on various characters on other servers....my jedi guardian is a freaking tank in pvp gear, and has about 2million credits on him.

I'll just make new characters on Ebon Hawk then. Bounty Hunter(Power tech) or Smuggler(Gunslinger) depending on which side we play.

I got a marauder to 11, now I'm going to do the same with a sentinel. That way I'm set for whatever the gang chooses.

Kham, Which storyline do you like the best?  Although I like shooting lightning as a soc, I like the Jugg/Mar storyline better.

PS, when it comes time to starting the guild, I think Kham should be the guild master.

I have a level 11 Bounty Hunter (mercenary) on Ebon Hawk.  I haven't had a chance to make a Jedi Knight yet.  I'm just on the free trial to level 15, but Ill be playing when it's totally free to play in November.

hrm, my wife's laptop barely runs the game, but it does it well enough that i could level my characters up and get them started

its a great machine that runs the game at full settings and gets me about 100 fps lol

If we have a guild for each side we could run competitions, events, rivalries etc. to create interaction between the two. They can even be run through here as well as a Republic team and Empire team doing different games and competitions with in-game stuff as prizes.

While thats true, i dont think we have enough people to split us all up like that, without making it difficult to run anything. Id say stick with one side for now, and after a few weeks of playing we can see what everyones schedules are like.

We won't necessarily need splitting up, like what has been said already, most people have characters on both sides so both guilds will have similar numbers and could easily be split for small events for now (until numbers pick up). Plus if we do it that way we might get more numbers anyway because people might be shaky about being a certain side, whereas if they have the option of both, it won't matter.

At work we tried having guys on both sides on the same server when the game first came out. it doesnt really work out because people tend to want to do their own thing, they get hooked on storyline on one side and never want to play their characters on the other etc

The whole point of the poll was to see what the overall preference was, and get everyone to roll on one side so we can actually get a guild going and see when everyone is on.

Otherwise we could have 4 logged on one side, and 6 on the other and unless they checked both sides before starting actually sitting down to play, they wouldnt know the others were on, makes it a pain to coordinate things.

You could get that either way. We might have people who really want to go for this idea but really don't like the Empire side so decide not to join in.
If you do it all on the fly then yeah, you're going to get complications, which is why you plan things. I've done this kind of thing on many games that split the base into sides and it does work. Trying to just do it with a bunch of people at work won't work so well but when you have a forum of people going for it then it's easy to organise. Like I said, I've done it plenty myself.

I realise that the poll was to just pick one side but it has been brought up multiple times to do both which really shows a willingness from the people here to go both ways because it lets everyone be comfortable in how they want to play and helps others to join in that are sceptical because they don't want to play a side they don't like.

Everyone's going to be playing at all different times because we all have different lifestyles and come from all parts of the world, it's not about everyone sitting down to play at the same time, it's about having others to play with and interact with when we can play it. We can easily organise times for events and see who would be able to participate and which side each could play on, it's not difficult and opens it up to many more people than if it was kept one-sided.

It is much easier that way, but it's much more accessible to use both factions. Same server is a must, it would be pretty pointless otherwise, but if it stuck to one faction then it's likely to be generally smaller and lack the enthusiasm than if both factions were involved.

I'm not sure how the factions can interact but with Ebon Hawk being a RP server, having a guild for each faction could benefit there aswell as it would create opportunities for rivalries, our own stories etc.

The only way someone from the other faction can hear you is if they are standing beside you and you're talking in say. Other then that there is no chatting between factions.

Then having a guild for each faction would be great for the rpers as we could develop our own storylines and conflicts between the two.

That would be fun..

I think the two sides, both imp and rep would work out okay.  It sounds to me that maybe there is a couple of you, one from each side, that may be willing to organize activities for the rest of us?

I don't suspect there would be scheduled play each day of the week, but maybe alternate the days where someone could play on both sides if they wanted to.  Have we gotten far enough where we might want to start two new topic areas:  "Empire side"  "Republic side", or we could just list the information in this tread.

I think each of us should decide what side we want to be on (maybe both sides??), and pick what days of the week and time periods you can play.   This way the one organizing could figure who she/he has to work with in planning.  An example I can think of to list ones info would be:

brand new news guys, a new species has arrived, the Cathar. Hopefully we will soon get naulatons and togrutas.

It's underwhelming really; kind of looks like a reskin.

I'd love to make a togruta; that red skin is...it's very nice.

Could you imagine the Nautolans? They could have made an entire underwater section for them.

I suspect the Cathar will be republic sided cause I have been killing a bunch of them on a different server, on Taris, with my Sith Marauder.  Still think we can do both sides with the # of people.  I'm going to keep the Ebon Hawk toons to around lvl 20-25.  I'll keep watching for when the guilds start to form, but will be playing on a different server till then.

So I made another Bounty Hunter on the Ebon Hawk server. I may make a Jedi toon, and I'll make a Smuggler soon, probably sometime next week.

they finally brought out a new race albeit too late. I played SWTOR in Jan and after leveling to the cap a guardian and a gunslinger the game just died with hardly anyone on and the fleet was nothing but lfg spam. Despite any misgivings I have for the endgame content, I love my guardian.

Still deadlocked I'll fire up an evil republic character just in case.

So my Bounty Hunter has reached level 15. Looks like he'll be on the shelf until November.

I'm building a varied assortment of Imperial Character on the server, a Chiss BH healer, a Pureblood Maurader and a Zabarak stealth Op. I can not wait until it goes FTP and we get the server up and running.

actually yes, the damage is exactly the same and works exactly the same way, lighting does not do more damage than throw, shock does not do more damage than project, they are the exact same abilities

I have an Inquisitor (Sorcerer) at L30, and I really like player her.  She is straight-up dark, and that can be a refreshing change of pace, after spending so much time with my Jedi Sentinal, who just made it to L50 a week ago. 

Between her dark nature, her distance-based damage, a hold, and healing, she has a little of everything!  The light armoring is a let-down at time, especially when the tank-y types don't hold the aggro.  But, all in all, she is one of my favorites!

Iam really upset my toon on Ebon Hawk(why is it called toon anyway?) is named Rifterr cause Rifter was taken for some odd reason.

They're called toons because in most MMO's the PC's (Player Character's) look quite cartoonish. Hence the name toon. I'll go ahead, and post this not just for you but for anyone who's a noob to MMO's. It lists pretty much every single MMO's related term such as NPC, Buff, and tons more. ;)

Also the reason you couldn't user the name Rifter is because was already taken by someone else. They can't have more than one person named it, because it would cause problems with awarding different things. It would also make it impossible for anyone to mail you because then they would send it to you or the other rifter.

I realized that someone else had it, I just found it odd someone had taken it. I thought it was an original name on my part.

Yeah it's tough with actual words like that.  I'm just glad mine isn't a regular name or word - it's basically nonsense, an anagram of my last name.  "Nero" isn't long enough, so that's annoying... but oh well.

Just as an FYI , I'm not sure if it's been posted on here, you can put bound mods,armorings, enhancements, and crystals into Legacy gear and transfer them to your other legacy toons! I raid each week on my Jedi Sentinel so I end up with a lot of extra gear. Most my companions are all Columni / Rakata geared. I have a Sorceress thats L46, as soon as she hits L50 she has a Rakata Chest / and 6 Columni pieces in her stash to wear! Pretty sweet! Her final class quest is gonna be a slaughter house!

Very cool!  I'm currently playing a trial on an alternate account, so my regular account (with my Legacy Guardian) is inactive.  Once it goes FTP I'll figure out what I wanna do with it.

So how do you do that, transfer from one to the other (email it?)  My legacy is on Droogas Pleasure Barge?  For the stuff my current toons don't use I end up just selling the stuff off at a med station. 

Got a couple other questions for ya Vex (if you don't mind answering):

- Is it worth getting the Speeder class 2 (or skip buying that class completely), someone in the SWTOR general chat said that you didn't need to buy it, and could save some cash by not getting it, since at level 50 speeder class 3 becomes available.

- About getting a +40 Endurance lightsaber crystal at level 40.  It seems to be the better deal than the +50 Endurance one at level 50.  Is the 150,000 worth the extra +10 Endurance?  Anyway, whichever one one gets, won't that just increase the level of enemy HPs during the storyline

Aim: This is your basic ranged combat stat. This stat modifies your ranged damage bonus and your ranged critical chance. This is the primary stat for Bounty Hunters and Republic Troopers.

Additionally, there are some non-combat oriented stats that will also affect your character in other key areas.

Affection: This stat shows how your choices in mission interactions affect your relationship with your companion. Conversations that you have with your companions when they ask to speak with you privately will have a larger impact on their Affection rating. This stat is also affected by Companion Gifts. Gifts will either result in an Affection gain or your companion will have no reaction to receiving the gift. Companions can gain as many as 10,000 Affection points. Affection points impact your companions’ success rate and timing on Crew Skills tasks. Keep in mind that the Affection rating is unique for each companion. Light Side/Dark Side points: This stat is directly affected by your conversation choices during missions. It’s shown as a meter on your character sheet. The more choices you make for one side or the other the more the “needle” will move in that direction. This is shown as the total of the choices that you make, so for example, if you make 2000 points worth of Light Side choices and 750 points worth of Dark Side choices then the value shown will be 1250 Light Side points. You can also grind these points via Crew Skills. As you gain points new titles will become available to you at each tier (1000 points, 2000 points, etc.)
 
Social Points: You gain Social Points by grouping for missions and Flashpoints. When you win a conversation roll in a cutscene dialog choice you receive two Social Points for each member of your party. You also gain a few Social Points just for participating, even if you don’t win the roll. Social Points also have tiers and unlock titles. You also unlock access to special equipment. Social items are typically iconic gear or costumes with customizable modification slots.
 
Valor: These points are gained from PvP. Again there are tiers which grant titles and access to special equipment as you gain Valor points.

To transfer the the Rakata Chest , I simply got the legacy chest and swapped the armoring, mod, and enhancement to it and mailed it to my sorceress. One snag I encountered, some of the armorings are bound to a slot i.e. the Rakata chest armoring has to go into a chest piece, same with legs , feet, and possibly helm. This is quite a costly process credit wise. But to me worth it since I'll have a raid ready sorceress as soon as she hits L50.

Well, looks like the total number of servers in the game is now down to 8.  The Ebon Hawk server is still available, and none of my charactors that are there got moved.  For those of you that are doing the f2p you may want to check your charactor listings.

Yup my Guilds (Light and Dark sides) are now on The Prophacy of Five server. 9 of my toons got transferred there.

I'm on most nights around 8 to 9 PST
and one most weekends off and on throughout the day.

To keep things fresh I have my BH two planets ahead of my Inquisitor, BH clears a planet then I play the Inquistor for a planet, then Operative, then Warrior, then repeat. It keeps it fun and fairly fresh.

City of Heroes is announced to be killed Nov 30. I am very sad but it might also mean I will be trying to get my Jedi up to top level.

So.. Which server are most of you now? So we can actually get together?

It seems like we agreed on Ebon Hawk, though I'm not sure if we ever decided fully on a faction.  I have a level 10 Consular there, but it's only a free trial so until the game goes Free to Play he'll be rather stagnant...

Once a faction is decided I'll make a toon on there . I might not play it a lot since I'm raiding on The Prophacy of Five server , but I will play it eventually.

That was my lvl50 goal.

I went through the whole game with alternating colors because I'd just have to switch them out when I level anyway.

So yes, now He's got two yellow's.

For a time I was really digging the red and yellow combo.

Red and yellow is an excellent match!  But two yellow just seems right for you ;)

I tried to stick to green, but eventually the regular colors become outclassed :(  I'd love it if there were some more high-level crystals in the basic colors... or better yet, an emerald crystal!

They have those actually!  White and magenta, but they're VERY hard to get.  Veldryne has white I believe (shocking I know), and I had a cyan one with my Guardian.

Honestly i love this! The game is great, the only reason i unsubbed is because i found myself sitting around the  foeet too much but if it is F2P i will prob start playing again and level my sage the rest of the way. Id also love to roll on a server to get to know the forum a bit better!

Well it's coming close.

Apparently it looks like when have a near even count of people who play and don't at ATM, coupled with the evenness of the vote for Empire vs. Republic.

Which means, that because they will be instating a patch when it goes F2P that if you're an unsub you can only use two characters.

This is great given the evenness of the the vote, we could have entire weekly battles between forum members that is nearly even; maybe even post the winnings in the "bragging Rights" section.

Regardless of the reduced number of warzones they allow for unsubs.

I can see this being healthy competition, coupled with the friendly discussion on the forums. ;D

I ran through the Esseles flashpoint today and won a sweet lightsaber.  It looks like Ultrasaber's Malice.

Personally, I will more than likely stay with a subscription. I may not use everything, but it's nice to know that it's available to me when I want it, if I need it.

I was actually rumored to be yesterday. According to what I hear, it's supposed to come with Patch 1.5, which is still on the PTS servers. If it does come with the patch, it'll be on a Tuesday.

But you know what they say about rumors.

Personally, I think they'll drop it the week of Thanksgiving vacation. Lots of people will be home from work and school, so they'll get the maximum amount of people logging in to try out F2P.

That's the way I'd do it anyway.

My main Jedi is also a sentinel and I am still trying to keep the colors the same as my real blades.. blue and green...

They are all scattered over servers now and I would love to move them to where we can play together...

I think most of us are on Ebon Hawk. I'm going to try and get a guild together and have everyone join. I know at some point Nero and Artorius had a guild on Tarro Blood, but I don't think that server is available anymore. I also don't know if they still play.

November 15th is when the transition will occur.

Sure. Let me talk with Nero and see if they are still playing. They may still have an active guild. It was called Suns of the Force, which is actually pretty cool. If it's no longer active, we can start looking at creating a new guild for us saber forumites. :)

Here's the thing... you'll NEVER be notified that someone added you as a friend. You don't send out friend invites. You just add people to a list and get notified when they are online.

Just do a search in the Social window for Suns of the Force. Should show you who is online. Whisper one of us for an invite.

What's all this about a guild and FB group?

We're on the Ebon Hawk server, guild name is Suns of the Force.  Mostly it's just the Canada-folk (Veld and crew), Solinus, and a few others.  I have my Sentinel on there, if you're online now I can hop on and add you.

hit 35 on my guardian last night, and dumped 300k credits on getting my last inventory bar, and all my lvl 2 legacy experience upgrades

any alts i roll are going to level pretty darned fast now lol

Don't quote me on this (I don't pay too much attention to the Cartel Store) but I believe that you can unlock the experience gains for the current character OR pay an extra fee and unlock it account wide. I'll verify though.

Totally forgot to look while I was on earlier.

Been grinding a trooper seeing as I've finished chapter 2 of her story line 6 levels below the ideal level.  That is, finished Hoth and the next story quest at level 35.  Now I'm too underlevelled to continue lol  ::)

Ok....I've had a look. from the legacy screen you can buy the exp perks using coins or credits but only for the character you buy them on.

Can't find anything related to that in the cartel market.

btw a heads  up for everyone, when you hit 50 you are sent 99 tionese commendations in the mail

this is enough to buy you your 5pc set and your offhand


id also recomend sometime before 50, capping out your warzone marks, because that will let you buy bracers and belt, as well as a main hand weapon, even though they have expertise on them, its still better than any drops you get for a while

well, i have played swtor a bit,, and its ok,, i feel like the game play of SWG was better then what they got ... the gameplay of SWG was just epic.. let me know when you are guys have a server for sure and a side for sure .. i would probably make a lightside pure blood sith .. not sure if id go fighter or caster... one of the things i liked about swg.. but im not going to get off topic

i am having trouble deciding what class to play , lol, i know it will be a jedi.. but a guardian or sage.. i cant choose... what is more needed a healer or a tank..... what is there least of in the guild.... i know i should follow a character path in my mind.. but i like both sides of the coin... lol

i just got a subscition 4 swtor. it is expensive, but the game is awesome.

i just killed off 750,000 credits last night adding augments to 6 pieces of columni gear....

That's expensive.

On Jedi Cov it's approx 35k for a mk6 augment kit then around 54k for a top level aug. Say 90k per kit + aug so 6 pieces would be about 450k

If it's any consolation though upgrading my armoring costs me approx 1-1.4 mill per piece, enhancement and mods are around the 850k mark.
Suffice to say I only have a couple of pieces of top level armoring...I also have 22.5khp before buffs so it's worth the cost. lol

Your commendations are capped for F2P, I only have 60 which means I'll never get those other 30 and I also have to purchase authorization to be able to wear purple gear.

my sentianl is level 37 so i have started playing pvp and i dont know how players push the attacks and move like they do on the vids. i know how 2 bind keys but how do u keep your hand on the mouse, move and push attacks. i just click on attacks and i have a disivatige. i have looked on utube but cant find nothing. please help me improve my TOR skills

looks like I will be relearning how to play, and my characters. I have been away for far too long.

MMO spec mouse.

I used a cyborg RAT MMO v7....I ahve 12 buttons within easy reach of my thumb so that's a whole row of skills easily available.  I've then set my skill bar so that the skills I can spam are the easiest mouse button to find and my rotation works in a logical series of button pushes.

Do you guys have a single guild or are you spread around?   is it an RP guild and if not....You guys want to start one?

My action bar is set up as such:
1  2  3  4  5  6  F  G  E  T  Q  X

Basic/bread-and-butter attacks are on F and Q; Melee are generally on F, ranged on Q.  E is usually my point-blank AoEs, G is whatever I feel like at the time.  X is used for taunts, on my tanks, or for stuns on my DPS/casters.  Numbers are usually my abilities with long cooldowns, or things I'll probably need in a pinch.
Shift + (whatever) for actions on second quickbar.  Ctrl + (whatever) for third quickbar.

Right hand focuses on mousework.

Or, as said above, an "MMO mouse" can work.  I personally don't like them, but they're an option.

I honestly don't know how I'd cope without the MMO mouse.

In terms of improving pvp skills learn your spec and your rotations VERY well.....might be worth checking out Noxxic.com for advise about rotations and procs.

Especially with melee characters, i find there are more attacks than you can comfortably reach as a Jefi guardian or sith maurader.

on another note, does anyone play Empire on Prophecy of the Five?

I actually find I don't have a terrible amount of trouble reaching my attacks with the setup I posted above.  It does, admittedly, take slightly more work and trial-and-error arranging than on my Shadow/Assassin tanks, but it's not really unmanageable.
You just can't put, like, Saber Ward on '1,' in case you accidentally right-click something from forty yards away and burn it.

My wife surprised me and activated my subscription for SW:TOR, no more F2P for me, I get all the perks now...

They're also running Double XP weekends currently, helps get you past some of those really tedious repetitive missions (I think I've got 4 characters on Nar Shaddaa right now, 2 republic, 2 Sith, all seem to have the same missions.)

Double XP weekends + full xp perk from legacy + xp buffs comes to about 310% xp iirc...I've been getting 45k from pvp on a 32 Sage.

I'm not sure Legacy XP perks and XP consumables are doubled.  I was getting similar XP from PvP when I was that level, and I don't have a single rank in the Warzone XP perk.

Still, though, I took a new character from 20 to 36 in a day of playing, and that was me goofing off.  So maybe consumables are doubled.

just started playing a jedi knight on asia pacific server dalborra, character name Belyra. being in australia, i figured id see if i like the game on a more local server, before creating a new character on ebon hawk server. getting the odd bit of lag, hope when i swap to ebon hawk it wont be too bad. man, so far i love this game!!! if only id realised it was free play sooner! getting used to the MMORPG style though, only one ive played before is EVE which is very very different game play
oh and im playing f2p, at least for now itll stay that way. ive got my monthly subscription to EVE, and rarely get the chance to play online as it is so i cant justify subs for SWTOR as well at the moment.

Can't play it on a Mac it sux;  unless I use boot camp and get windows but don't feel like paying all that money just to play one game

i have not played in months... kinda just not happy with it.. its too... wowy.... guess im a stickler for the SWG style.. before SOE got their grubby hands on it.. anyways, carry on guys.. wish it had a bit more "real" classes... feel like most games these days have forgotten what really makes a long lasting game... most games these days are all about the "how fast can i hit max lvl and go ganking the lower lvl players"  "or how fast can i make every class maxed, and get all the gears....

i really do miss the game play from SWG... languages, training in your class skills by actually using the skills, not by basic exp, and of course.. whats a bounty hunter class.. without being able to take on accual bounties placed on players by other players... watching out for other people on your radar all the time, .. it made the game.. more starwars.. then any other SW game i have ever played....

o.0.... very sry for my random post here.. if i do ever get back into SWTOR, ill let you guys know, i had a sage at lvl 38... but the free to play, compared to subbed.. killed my fun as i am a crafter at heart, and being hindered by not being able to make/use the nice stuff.. really put a dampener in my game fun... thus, i left it to those that like that kinda stuff... plus i dont see it worth the funds they want for the premium sub... thus.. id rather spend my hard earned cash on better enjoyment.. like ultrasabers ^>^...

im jedi covenant for most of my sith alts are shalateaus 50 marauder,avarinarus 28 assassin,richard sanguin 21 powertech, shal-ven 21 operative,and ebon hawk is half republic/empire 3 repub:shalateaus 23 sentinel,richard sanguin 16 gunslinger,empire:leastaeus 21 merc. so im wondering what happened to the guild over here...
