Title: Color filters
Post by: Trigar7 on December 29, 2011, 10:49:13 PM
Hi.

I have been reading about the different swatch books you can get from Lee Filters and Rosco. My question is, and I only ask this because I am paranoid, are these filters safe to use by putting them up against the led?

So are people just cutting these out in circles and putting them between the led and the blade or is there something else I should be doing?

Thanks,

Garry.

I'm fairly certain that so long as there is no direct contact to the actual LED part, it will be fine.

The reflector piece keeps that from happening.

Basically if you have your filter just drop it down in there; makes sure it lies flat, and then insert the blade to hold everything in place.

Yeah, what he said... they sit on the little focusing thingy. Never had a problem with mine. Try the Oklahoma Yellow from Lee, its delicious...

Keep in mind the more filters you put in to mix colors with will dim the blade. Just an FYI. ;)

Precisely, Trigar7, it dims.  That's why I decided to go higher wattage for filter tests.  3W is a great saber.  5W didn't seem much different.  10W will hopefully rock.  I'm still a few deliveries away from that though... lol.  Oh yes, Oklahoma Yellow.  Awesome.

I'd like to grab some Lee's, I only have the US filter's and as awesome as they are the LED is SO bright you gotta stack em.

But Lee's seem think but not enough to dim it beyond looking awesome.

YELLOW!

(It's a minor compulsion........I can deal with it if I need to. ;D)

That is seriously the only LEE color I ever hear..........it makes me quite happy.;D

Hopefully soon I can grab some, I keep spending money on sabers....and well, life.

The saber is not in my hands presently, but the Ok yellow is nice.

More a blue or blue-green or even a green sort myself  :)

Those are cool too... play with the pinks and try "jas green" if you're a green fan.
