Title: Phantasm v2 customized and Jedi costume

Video embedded by your friendly neighborhood, Mod

One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that the Initiate hilts have electric tape and a bit of poster board fitting them into the PVC shrouds with just a pressure fit. I can just pull them out if I need to swap batteries but they are tight enough not to come out while spinning

Hope you enjoy

Galef, that's a great video.   Love the mods on the V2s, especially the custom-built coupling system and PVC shrouds!  You should do a detailed video on how that was built.

Thanx. It's nothing too complicated. I just cut the PVC to 6", glued in the coupler piece, drilled holes for the screws and covered it in tape and paint.
The hardest part was wrapping the Initiate hilt in just the right amount of poster board and tape so that it could fit without being loose. That took me a few tries.

Something I completely forgot in my excitment is that I also have a 2 foot extension piece that uses that same PVC couplers. It makes the hilt really long like a spear or pike.
I'll have to get some outdoor videos for that as I don't have room inside. And the weather isn't very nice where I am right now

Nice job, Galef! The shroud looks like it could have originally been part of it! Point for sharing!

Thanx, everyone.

Now I have an opinion question for you all: I just ordered some Photon blades from TCSS and plan to cut them down to fit this staff.
They'll be the primary blades for this staff for both Daytime and spinning, but are thin-walled so no dueling.

I want to get the overall length to just over 6 feet, and will be custom cutting them . If I cut them to 26 inches each, that achieves that length.

However, should I do 28" instead and maybe cut 1-2" off my hilts? The PVC shrouds add quite a bit of length to my hilt which is just over 24" while coupled and 12" each while paired.  As I will never use both hands on a single hilt, should I just cut ~2" off the hilts, so that the coupled length is 20-21" and that would allow me to get more length from the Photon blades without being 32" which feels too long for me.

Afterall, I've now invested in the Photon blades and the LIGHT part of a light saber is what draws the most attention, so I may as well get the most out of it.
Looks like in typing this, I've convinced myself to do this anyway, so photos to come once I've finished!

Well, it's done. I cut my hilts down to about 11" each, making my staff hilt 22"
It actually makes it easier to spin now too. I think the weight was too uneven before.

The total length with 24" blades is 65" or 5'5"
Now I just have to wait for my photon blades to arrive and cut them to 28" each
Once in the hilts, the total length should be about 73" or 6'1" which is perfectly my goal.

Stay tuned for pictures in about 2 weeks.

I made a few upgrades since this video. Namely swapping the blades for TCSS photon green day blades with pointed tips and I glued tiny red gems to the switch for a bit of extra flare.

Galef, I finally got around to watching this video, and that looks fantastic!  The day blades are really nice, too, and add a cool flair to the sabers.

Thanks for posting this; you seem to have a firm grasp on how to make your imagination become reality, which is a really cool talent.

I take that as a very high compliment, thank you very much!

I'm bumping this thread because I'm planning another video tomorrow with my Day blades and since I've made further mods to my saber, I'll be posting a link here too

Here it is. For this thread, I only want the first part of the video to show off the mods I've made to the saber, but if you want to see the rest for the Day blades, I appreciate you continuing to watch. Thanx!

I made yet more mods to my saber. This time I've added some width to the emitter with a slanted shroud:
