Title: Best Choice for Diamond Sounds?
Post by: MandaloriansPride on August 10, 2018, 04:26:49 PM
When getting new sound fonts from Saberfonts which is better on the Diamond conroller? The ones that are optimized for Plector or NEC?

Greetings, we don't name the competition by name, we call them the 'other guys' in accordance to forum rules and regulation.

To answer your question, SF does not work with the Obsidian soundboard.  There are a ton of saber fonts on this site and they're free, you can find them here: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?board=36.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?board=36.0)

Interesting point of view. I wouldn't consider that the above mentioned site is a competitor with Ultrasabers seeing as how they do not sell sabers, hilts, or electronics. And Ultrasabers does not sell sound fonts. Oh, and they're mentioned in a lot of places here on the forums. Not to mention that one of the biggest contributors over there is Novastar - some of whose sound fonts are on the forums here and Blackstar and Ancient Saber even came pre-installed on my Diamond.
They do work on the Obsidian v3 and v4, as well as the Diamond. A little conversion is neccessary - using MediaHuman does the trick - as mentioned here:

I've actually tried several from there and most of them work and sound great, I was just wondering which of the "optimized for" worked best or if it doesn't make a difference.

EDIT:
And after re-reading the post above I found my answer, LOL. But to be honest, I found the Youtube video long before I ever even looked at the post here.

@MandaloriansPride, it's a month late, but I'm glad you found my tutorial helpful! Yeah, it mentions in the video what optimization you want to go with, as you seem to have found.

@Infinit01 I think Mando's right in saying that Saberfont is not competition of US in any meaningful way. And yes, there are free soundfonts available on this forum, but to be perfectly honest, the majority of them are made by inexperienced font makers and tend to be far below the quality of what can be had elsewhere. Hence, why I made this tutorial.

I believe Infinit was referring to the sound boards he mentioned by name not Saberfont. So yes Infinit was right in saying they should be called the other guys.
