Title: Trying to price my saber
Post by: KelRylo on February 15, 2018, 09:02:49 AM
Hey I got a 75$ mystery box today and it's a dark apprentice le in orange. I'm curiouse to see if I got my 75$ worth but the only one I see on the site has windows and it's 65$ so mine must be less because it has no upgrades. I never saw a mystery box with no av switch or anything so I'm a little concerned. The saber feels great though and I can't put it down lol.

What version did you receive? the v3 is the 64.99 one. But if you got a fire orange tri-cree then that puts it at 79.99

What type of batteries does it have? Is it Tri-Cree (use three LEDs instead of one)? Does it have a covertec wheel? But yes, I can attest to the greatness of a FO Dark Apprentice LE. I guess I should also ask, is it FO or PO? The PO will be a darker almost blood-orange color.

In the other thread you posted it was yellow, now it's orange. Maybe you should post a picture of it so we can see.

The one on the site for $64.99 is without the windows, it just shows a picture with the upgrade on it.

I'm not sure how to post a pic here but it's "fire orange" . My saber didn't say v4 at the end like the one the site advertises though.

KelRylo, in order to post pics to the forum, you need a third party hosting site.  I use Imgur personally, but I believe Dropbox works as well.

"Copy link address" on the image there, then paste it on here between the [ img ] [ /img ] (no spaces) things.  That works. :)

As far as getting value, I honestly don't doubt it.  A pic or two would certainly help us find it with you.

KelRylo,

The Dark Apprentice LE with Fire Orange with no upgrades (no AV, no windows, not a Tri-Cree, normal batteries) would be base-priced $64.99
That hilt comes with a 24" blade.  I am going to assume (because EVERY MB I've ever seen comes with one) that you received either a 32" or 36" mid-grade blade with the saber.
Upgrading the Dark Apprentice LE to a 32" or 36" blade is a $10 upgrade.

That puts the base price to $74.99.   Its the rock-bottom for MBs, but it does happen, about as often as someone pulls a premium hilt with goodies.

As for the "V4"...   That only indicates that the Apprentice/Dark Apprentice hilts are part of "Generation 4" of US hilt designs.  It was included to show these hilts, as well as the Sentinel and Dark Sentinel, are the same "generation" as the Aeon/Dominix V4s, which are "version 4" of those hilts.  The original Aeons were PVC waaaaaay back in the day, the V2 was the same design upgraded to metal.  The V3 was an improved design, and the V4 was a redesign with more details and styling built in.

The Apprentice was released as a contemporary of the Initiate V4, the Dark Apprentice as a contemporary to the Dark Initiate V4.  So they often carry the "V4" label as well, though there are no previous versions.

I hope this helps!  MBs are always a roll of the dice.  We see the high-end pulls here and the low-end pulls.  What we don't see are the vast majority of hilts that are basic hilts (Aeon/Dominix/Sentinel) that have AV switches or windows or both.  but rest assured you did get your value.  :-)
