Title: Finally: US Zveihander
Post by: firehand10k on March 11, 2016, 05:09:32 AM
Got the last piece I needed to build the ultimate Ultrasaber... the Zveihander. The Dark Arbiter neck between the pommel and the body is just the right addition in both length and grip. Leverage for "Unlimited Power" in a swing and very sure grip along with the rigidity of a 40" heavy-grade blade set 8 inches deep. This is a beast of a saber built for one purpose...

To Dominate the Galaxy!!!

Even the Scorpion looks tiny.

That thing is massive, I'd be curious what it weighs.

Good grief, what a beast!  I cannot even imagine trying to handle that!  How tall is it from blade tip to end of the pommel?

It weighs 3.6 Lbs with heavy-grade blades all round (40*8*8) and measures 54.25 inches from pommel to tip.

Good lord, you would have to be Conan the Barbarian to use that thing! Wow!

Uh yeah, and now go and practice spanish Montante with that beast - especially those for engaging multiple opponents with shorter blades ...  ;D

Took this into battle today and it really works. God some good "real" weathering on it but proper use of the guards makes it hard for opponents to strike me and I even got a good position to strike with one of them once right in the ear (if we hadn't been wearing fencing masks.
Love this beast

Interesting, not overly cumbersome at all?

Good lord that is insane and I kind of love it.  I've fallen in love with the idea of sabers with giant hilts lately - I really need to try out my Dark Initiate v4 with a full-size blade on a Pike Extension in combat sometime.  I also really want to get an Emerald Dark Menace for the same purpose, and maybe even with a 40" blade for shells and giggles.  If I ever run into you somewhere I'll need to try that out!!

I don't find it cumbersome at all. The Arbiter neck before the pommel allows two handed use with a good spread for leverage while still keeping distance to not catch my own arms with the cross blades.

Remarkable! I like a long-handled lightsaber, but to see it that long...

Does the extended pommel give you any problems with the battery pack/soundcard - It's not hanging loose inside all that extra space? That's been my concern with using a Yari etc.

And that Manticore looks minute in comparison to the other two :D

The Arbiter neck is about the same at the male side threads as the pommel is so the battery pack and soundcard are held in exactly the same. The flush coupler I fits the same so it would work just as well for the yari extension. The extra depth does act as a sort of resonance chamber and does change the tone of the sound a little, a smaller bit deeper.
The extra length did change my rotational radiuses some and seemed to lessen the josteling the card takes when dueling.
