Title: Adding sound
Post by: Jedifry on March 08, 2016, 07:04:31 PM
Is it hard to get a stunt saber from ultrasaber and give it sound? Or is it even possible?

Yes, it is indeed possible. An Obsidian sound board can be installed and the battery pack will have to be upgraded for Li-Ion, and either a Buckpuck or resistors will have to be added. Not hard, just a lot of re-wiring. US can do it or it could be a DIY project if you're comfortable soldering.

It is very possible, and if you have some small experience with wiring small electronics not very hard from what I've read.  I have not done it myself, but there are many here who have.
You can order the Obsidian board from US, or there are ... other options.   I have seen plans to harvest the board from the cheap plastic sabers they sell as toys in Wal-Mart for example, though the sound quality and such are far inferior to Obsidian sound.

Sit tight, I'm sure JediXIX or one of the other real sabersmiths will be along shortly with far more detail.  Another good idea would be to search the customization board for threads about adding sound, or re-post the question there, you'll get a far better answer.  :-)

If you have the skills you should most definitely do it yourself. The cost to send It back and get sound added is quite expensive. I'm sure there are tutorials on how to do it (not entirely sure but I imagine.)

Direct from an email from Ultrasabers.

$125 to add sound
$35 for Li-Ion setup ($45 if you want the upgraded charger)
$10 for Non-Illuminated AV switch (I think, I no longer have the email)

Add $15 for V4 sound
$85 for Recharge port with 1.2A fast charger.

I'm pretty sure there is a $50 disassemble fee as well. I got the quote from the live chat so I don't have it saved but I believe that is what it was. Then add on shipping...

I was the told the $125 includes disassembly and parts. $15 for return shipping in the Continental US only.
