Title: New Lightsaber Type Idea
Post by: da1337wolf on November 01, 2015, 08:29:03 AM
not entirely sure if this is in the right board but...

According to several previously cannon sources there were several types of lightsaber. they were Standard, Shoto(Short blade short hilt), Guard Shoto(attached at 90 degree angle to standard hilt) , Saberstaff(aka duel blade), Saber pike(single blade on a long body), and Light whip (Mixture of lightsaber esque tendrals and metal flails).
I have designed a lightsaber type based off the concept of the light pike, but altered slightly. Made of saber resistant alloy the hilt of the weapon is 5 feet long, with a force honed edge on one point(the "bottom") and both a magnaguard style em emitter and the saber emitter on the opposite point ("top") the lightsaber blade itself is not the primary weapon, instead the hilt is used as a staff with the short (7.5 inch long) blade activated for a lethal stab or swipe. to allow the blade to be activated from any position on the hilt, 4 synchronized activation matrixes are evenly spaced along the hilt. I call this weapon the Saberspear

Standard sabers with Yari Pike extensions does this, for the most part.
