I'm not sure about the hilt but it is considered the one handed type so it'll be small.

As for the ultraedge I have a 36" ultraedge and it barely has any weight to it, so most of the weight should come from the hilt.

It is made for younglings so it shouldn't have that much weight but you might want to check out reviews on youtube as well.

I doubt a 6 year old would have any problems with that at all - my daughter has been using a v3 Initiate since she was 4, and she's fine with it :)

My daughter is 8 and has 2 initiate v2s. She loves them both. Small enough to share with younger friends and not too small for her yet. The regular UE blade will be great. It's not heavy and not too long. But still long enough for a grown up to have fun spinning.

Initiate v2
Initiate 24" Blade

I don't have any yet but I am considering this setup for my two boys and my niece who are all in the 3-4 year old bracket currently.   Others have advised in my recent thread on the subject that it should work fine for them.

You nailed it. Worry about more advanced options when the youngling matures. One thing I like about Initiate length blades is that even mid-grade thickness stays rigid at 24" but is still very light weight.

Should be fine. I was actually considering the Apprentice V4 for your kid as well :P Then upgrade to a 32 inch blade as they get older and maybe stick with that blade size if they don't get too tall or if he/she prefers that blade size

You  have the perfect setup for younglings. I prefer the mid grades(silver film) over the Ultraedge (white film) but that's just my opinion. They look more like the real thing, like in the movies.

This is the exact setup i got for all 3 of my children last year.  Son=6, Daughters=8 and 9 when they got their sabers.  The only thing that I didn't take into account at the time is that there is no room for upgrades on the V2's.  When they get older, if they want sound in their sabers, they will have to purchase their own V3 or V4.  I have really petite girls and the V2's fit their hands very well right now, but they are jealous that my sabers can change color and have sound.  However, I'm sure someone has figured a way to put sound in a V2.
