Title: Howdy-hey from AK.
Post by: justmutantjed on October 11, 2014, 02:45:09 PM
Hullo, everyone!
My name is Jeremy, and I'm from Alaska. I'm going by "justmutantjed" -- my standard online name -- on this forum. I'm stoked to have the pleasure of owning two UltraSabers, and have enjoyed reading some of the posts around this forum so far. I look forward to (hopefully) contributing something worthwhile while I'm here and getting to know at least a few of you better!
Cheers!
Jeremy.

Hi and welcome.  I have enjoyed the Alaska cruise from Vancouver for the last two summers.  I  actually was hoping to find a saber to buy there but no luck.  The AB color is pretty close to the Glacier Bay glaciers.  What sabers do you currently own and how do you use them?   :)

EDIT:  Just read your other post regarding your sabers.  Nice!

Welcome to the forums!

What part of AK are you in? I spent a few years in the mid-80's living in Fairbanks.

Wow!  Someone who lives in a colder part of the country than I do.  Welcome to the forum! :D

Hey all, thanks for the warm welcome! (pun completely unintentional but nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed)
I'm actually from Ketchikan, which is what we refer to as "Alaska's Banana-belt"... So you might still be the front-runner in the cold weather department, julmax. It never gets below 0 F here. Got close in '04-05, but not quite. Think we bottomed out at about 3 degrees. My bug ended up frozen in place because I left the E-brake on overnight.
magik0012: I've been to Fairbanks. It's very pretty, but even as a night-person, I got a little tetchy by the end of February. And I mean, SERIOUSLY?? ICE FOG? Wow. Yeah, I'll stick with the 13 feet or more per year of rain that I've come to expect over the past 27 years I've lived in Ketchikan.
Dauntless Seven, I'm glad you enjoyed the cruise. Unfortunately, this area of Alaska doesn't really have much support for the Fandom of any Sci-Fi or Fantasy franchises, that I've been able to find. Even the SCA has a difficult time around here. I DO however know a blacksmith/viking reenactor who heads up a reenacting troupe, and he is a lot of fun to hang out with.
I'm the proud owner of a Dark Catalyst in Blazing Red, and a Dominix LE v3 in Adegan Silver with the colour discs. I haven't learned how to use any weapons yet, but I have had a little instruction in Yang Short-Form Tai Chi, and I want to learn Jiann. I think it'd be a great style to adapt for the 'Saber.
