I recently purchased a second hand Initiate. I decided to use it for my Sith character instead of my Manticore. Part of her back story is she lived as a nomad and honed her powers on Hoth. I decided her saber should have an ice-y feel. Its still a WIP but I wanted to get everyone's opinion. What is it missing?

Don't worry about restarting just post pictures when you can :) are you using photobucket or something similar

I'm at work and we only have a Mac. Would that have anything to do with it?

A few thoughts before you're able to share pics...

- Arctic Blue or Adegan Silver would be obvious colours for the blade, but any colour will work on an Initiate, I think.
- In sub-zero temperatures, is might be useful to consider a wrap of some kind - a ragged cloth, perhaps, torn from the sleeve of a shirt.
- Wampa or tauntaun claws, especially if you're a dark sider.
- Scratched/scuffed marks on the surface to show it's been in use for some time and its owner doesn't have access to equipment to smooth it out
- Depending on what resources you have available to you, something to create the illusion of a permanent icing of an obtrusive part of the hilt could be interesting

Just a few ideas, hope they'll spark something for you :)

The LED is red. When my Lee filters arrive I will try to make it something more cooler. I have a Wampa pelt planned for the costume so I may add a claw to the saber. I also want to try to find the spray paint that look like snow....I'm pretty sure that exists.

Wow, impressive. What did you use for the "ice" on the ends?

On the emitter I used crystals I bought from my local craft store and hot glue to make some "snow". On the pommel its hot glue.

Basically what I was going to say except for the claws that's a cool idea if your going to use a wrap how about the Wampa skin as the wrap.

Awesome idea for starters. I think some light blue paint here and there and perhaps a fur wrap would look really cool.

Thanks. If I'm able to change the blade color I will definitely add blue. At the moment I don't want it to look patriotic. lol

Small update! Wrapped part of the hilt with embroidery thread and added a claw.

awesome initiate I love theme and how you did it. You really created something there. a blue or an "icy" color blade would totally complete that saber

That is gorgeous. Fantastic job on the saber (& dagger). Point.  Blue is a logical icy blade color. But it would look pretty sweet in VA, DVA or even AS.  :)

Yeah, I meant the crystal and icy boarder mainly, to compliment whats on the saber.

This ice saber is genius. Way to go!

Probably the coolest US customization I've seen so far. Its like as if you found the saber and its been frozen over time but still works and such so you decided to keep it as your own.

Great idea and concept. If you ever get around to adding sound to that hilt, Madcow's Hoth font would be absolutely perfect for it.

I downloaded it to my modified Consular. I let it sit on the hum for a bit so you can hear the winds and the Imperial Probe Droid. So cool.
