Title: My saber has arrived. I am a total noob and need some help.
Post by: jonobgood on May 15, 2014, 01:31:50 AM
Saber arrived, looks pretty good (a couple small gripes with some small machining defects.... 1. recharge port hole not clean 2. one of the machined cuts on the hilt also not perfectly clean).

I tried to turn it on but nothing.  I plugged in the fast charger to the recharge port and the switch illuminated and I was able to turn it on (it was sick).  2 hours later I unplugged and nothing, the illuminated switch died instantly and I could not turn it on anymore.  How long do I need to charge it?  Is it possible the batteries are not connected properly?

I am also having trouble getting my computer to connect to the saber software, not exactly sure what i'm doing wrong.

I fixed the battery issue, there was just a piece of tape blocking the leads.

Now I just need to figure out why my computer doesn't recognize the saber.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Mine had an issue of not downloading the drivers - i just plugged it into a new port and it worked fine. check out the first reply  here  (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=19617.msg304942#msg304942) the step by step simple version helped me out a lot

The Piece of tape is normal in the battery pack so that the batteries don't drain during shipment

For me it was an issue with the cable so if you have other ones give them a go

also make sure you have the latest launcher installed

Ohh so you don't really need the tape that's on the Obsidian board??

i think he meant the tape in the battery chamber, mine didnt have that,

i would keep the sound board taped to all the other bits just to keep it all clean and neat

I would assume so as for sabers with an always on illuminated av switch have a piece of tape in the battery pack stopping the connection so it's not dead when it arrives

Well I'm glad you got your saber fixed without having to send it back if you did or if there wasn't really nothing wrong with it and was just confused at first. I know I was when I got my first saber with sound. :P
