I am currently the proud owner of the Manticore and have been eyeballing the Guardian very heavily...I do intend to get at least one in nickel. I was already impressed with the hilt in standard trim enough to make a decision to purchase,  but after seeing one in nickel well it is a must have. But the dilemma has become obvious...I want a staff and am thinking of adding a Yari as well. So then the question is a 2nd Manticore or two Guardians in nickel? Figured who better to ask than people who own these hilts already. Let me know what you guys think of these two hilt designs and whichever two you think would make a better staff. If anybody has already done either and can post pictures of them I would appreciate it...points awarded for pictures or videos. Thanks in advance.

The Nickel Guardian is a long, gorgeous, but heavy saber.

As much as I'd love to see two of them together in a staff, I think it would be purely decorative... unless you're a Rancor. :)

Manticore staff.... purty

The Guardian is really only heavy for around two weeks or so until it feels 'normal'. Two Guardians would have some heft to it at first, but you will get used it. Either the Manti-staff or the Guardian staff would be an eye-catcher, IMO.

While I love both of those hilts, the Guardian is on the longer side and pretty heavy compared to the Manticore.  Also I would guess what you intend to use it for would play a bit in the decision.  If you are going to spin it as staff quite a bit I would probably go with Manticore.  Display purposes either are great looking.  I was so use to spinning my Phantom V2 that does not have sound, so it is lighter and a bit thinner and then switched to my Phantom V3 with sound when I got it.  The added weight and thickness has got my forearms a little sore getting use to it.  I could not even imagine spinning two Guardians with decked out electronics and all.

Kal, I suspect that the Manticore is the better option for a staff - the Guardian has so much detail and level changes, my impression is that it would be less easy to handle as a staff. However, that's just my impression, and I would dearly love to have two of each and give you an informed opinion ;)

James thanks for the links. I'm beginning to lean towards what I already had suspected, but this is exactly the reason why I created this thread...let's keep going and see if more folks feel the same. Points have been given.
