Title: Full Pledged Jedi
Post by: Zren Tobas on February 22, 2014, 12:07:16 AM
So my Jedi costume finally came in early today actually! :D Though I'm having trouble keeping the tunics on, they keep sliding off my shoulders, unless that's normal. So tell me what you guys think. =] Yes I'm having my chest show for a classic look. :P Kind of Luke ANH inspired basically.

Ways of keeping the tabbards on tighter though? Having troubles with this. Do I put the obi on first then the tabbards?

velcro is your friend.

velcro is your friend.

Yes.

Also, if you know someone that has some sewing skills that could tack on part of the tabards; that would help keep them from moving so much.

Yeah because every time I put on my robe the tabbards slide off. Don't really need that for Comic Con or other events. Or I could just be puttong on the costume wrong. I'll do a quick video and see if you guys can tell me.

I'll be getting velcro here soon. I had some but its packed away again. People don't know how to store things around here. Should I get the adhesive type velcro?

hells to the yea bro looks awesome, the tabbards thing is minor detail.. but yes some "clothing adhesive" velcro should do the trick ...

otherwise, id say a little stitching at the top of the shoulders.. just a small area, like a button... just enough to hold it in place... im thinking from underneath the cloth, starting inside the tunic, up through the tabbard, over a tiny bit, like 2 centimeters.. then back down.. make about 3 passes.. then on the last pass, leave a little loop from the second pass... and put the needle through that loop about 4 times, then pull it all down nice and tight, but not so much it cause the fabric to scrunch up... ill try to post a short video of this process later

this is just for a litle minor sewing... just forget the button is there and this makes sewing the tabbards to the shoulders a piece of cake... just remember to have some there you can modile the tunic and tabbard for, and then have them put set pins in place to hold the shoulders where you want them.. then you can take it off and sew the little spots at the top of the shoulders to keep them in place, the rest cant hang

I got it figured out but its cool. Here's some robe action shots. =] A video review is coming too. Really loving my new costume. What I did to fix my problem is I crossed my tabbards and put the belts on tighter and it helped some.

This is actually one of the big reasons why I costume as New Jedi Order because tabard restrictions can be a bit lighter in that the back can be connected allowing much less slippage.

Other than that, it looks really good.  I've actually been waiting to see your costume ever since you would post way back in like the beginning of February.  I was almost getting annoyed.  :D
Where did you get your costume at?  I'm thinking about purchasing a costume from one of the many resources, even if it is a budget costume [NOT Rubios], but I'm still doing research.

I said in the video. :P Go to Amazon, type in brown and white Jedi costume, it'll be from hoodiesky. Pretty good quality costume. Pricey but worth it. The tabbars, obi, and outer tunic are like a cream color. Its cool.

So I might be goofy for Denver Comic Con. I'm still using my Jedi costume, but, I also have a wand from Alivan's and my One Ring, so I might mix everything up. Lol. How does this sound? A ring bearing wizard Jedi. Yes. :P Let me know what you guys think on my goofy idea. Lol.

A few people did  that at Comic Con and they got booed ... It's ok to mix genres but when it's like that it's a bit overkill ... If the con is more than a day bring two costumes ? Or change midway

They just jelly. Heh. The more try hards basically. I'd just do it for fun really. That's all I costume for is fun but I do plan on finishing up my belt at some point. =] Found these awesome pouches on ebay, more movie screen accurate and fully functional. Its the set of 3 if you've seen them. Tech pouch, comlink pouch, and medical pouch.
