Title: Hand made saber belt
Post by: Anensenef on December 15, 2013, 05:35:54 AM
Just finished this belt. Took aboot a week. Everything here I did by hand but kill the cow.
Sorry for the poor quality pics, I dont have a real camera so it looks much better than what you see here, or so I think :'(

Very nice work! I would love to make a belt of my own like this. I really like the saber holder. Where did you get all of the materials? Point!

Thank you very much, everything here I got from Tandy leather.

Nice work. I have a knack for leather working. Can I ask for a detail pic on the saber attachment?  I am working on on for my monarch.

That is a very well crafted belt. How long have you been working with leather?

Been working with Leather on and off for about 3-4 years, but started doing it regularly and more seriously in the past 6 months. Ill go grab a few close ups of the saber holder in a bit, and describe how i did that.

Ok so, It's 2 straps of leather, 1 is warped around the belt and then riveted perpendicular to the second strap, the second strap is then cut down and fitted to the width of your saber and fitted with a simple sam browne stud. The use of only a single rivet lets the saber swing while walking so it dosnt feel too stiff and ridged. It holds the saber very securely and can be fastened and unfastened quite quickly. Hope this helps and if anyone has any other questions about this belt or any other leather project I would be more than happy to help them.

Again, this is really well done, when I was about 15 I joined the local 4H group my sis was in, and they had a leather workeing group of a few kids and an instructor. I dropped out about a third of the way into my project. It was going to be a utility belt inspired by Batman's, with many pockets and pouches etc that I could reconfigure to how ever I wanted, now I'm really mad I didn't finish it!

Great work. I love it. Now if only there was a place to buy leather in Australia that I could find
