Title: Dominix v2 Soundboards?
Post by: CHEEKEE on June 07, 2013, 02:28:30 AM
Alright so i made an account back in like 2011, and now i am looking to rejoin the Saber community. Back in August 2011 i bought a Dominix V2, which i honestly must say i love. Unfortunately for me, the next month they unveiled the v3 which have the ability, because they are wider, to encorporate a sound system. Now My question, Is there any soundboards capable of squeezing into the v2? Besides the Obi wan Econo, because i just can't seem to  find one.   Thanks In Advance!

to make that work, you'd need to get a nano biscotte  sound board (smallest sound board out there), and then hunt down an 18mm speaker. I found one on mouser, or try model railroad stores etc. Then youd have to get an lion battery probably an 18500 and use some cram fu to get it inside.

Could i do two Li-ion batterys and still make it fit?, if so what should the voltage and maH be for each battery? Also, won't i need to install a momentary switch

With a NB you will need One 18650 battery, it will take nothing else.  I am going to say that two Li-ion batteries will NOT fit in the V2, the tubing for the hilt is just too small.  The single 18650 battery and above soundcard will be your best and only option for quality sound.  Hope this helps.

Cheers

I u make ur own chassis and speaker mount u could actually fit a spark it runs off a single cell as well, spark works best with rail master speaker, I just converted my initiate V2 to sound gonna post vid today and I fit a 2W super bass speaker it will fit without the speaker mount. I will post what I did

you got your spark to fit in there? Did you mount it over your battery or behind it?

In answer, two side by side 14500 cells will not fit.

This does boggle the mind there is limited space.  :o kage must know

Cool I want to put Spark in my Dominix then. I usually don't use speaker mounts anyway. I usually do the battery pack, use double tape for the board, the same with the speaker on the end of the pack.

I have played around with these V2 for a while now and here is what i know. The Dominix V2 and Initiate V2 as all of u know are narrower than the other lines of saber which can cause some issue. 1. Most speaker mounts and battery packs will not work unless u can mod them. This did not stop me as i Installed sound without speaker mount or battery back. I used the 2W bass speaker which is thicker than a railmaster 1.5W so u would save some space with railmaster. 2. Next the sounboard would need to be fastened to your battery and speaker in bottom of the hilt. Becasue as some of u know the inside diameter of saber is narrower up towards the switchbox. 3. The last big hurrdle is switch placement. The switch sits in middle of hilt which can limit u severly.

Now here are some things that I did to deal with these issues, First let me stat my initiate has a hasbro board which is old and is wider and thicker than the other boards I would recommend and I still got it to work. The problem I had is the soundboard I used was way to thick to be stacked on top of 18650 battery. The mod I made was removing switch and making my own with a microswitch allwoing for 18650 to be slid in behind it. NOW let me also state I had to do this because I was not able to stack my soundboard.  And also I when I was tinkering around I had the original switch in one single 14650 3.7 cell and 2W bass speaker I was able to get that in without modding the switch switch but I chose to do otherwise because I wanted runtime so I went with a 18650 3.7 cell.

lets remember also there is a mini bass speaker on the market now smaller diameter
only thing u would need to make a speaker mount could easily be done with PVC

Now lets get to soundboards and things to consider with each board

1. NB the biscuit would fit no prob using an 18650 cell and any speaker should work without out the mount

2. Spark is same thickness as NB very thin can be stacked untop of 18650 cell. U would want a railmaster 1.5W
same diameter as bass but alot thinner so it saves some space and is very loud. 2 need a extra switch for blaster
and need a recharge port. I should have room to mount these on sitch housing i would use a small momentary
and u will need to find a recharge port that can be drilled and pressed in as it will be hard to thread the switch
and the recharge port in so narrow of quarters. I am not saying it impossible but will be tricky.

3. For all other 7.4V boards  PC, Obsidian, Igniter, CF  i can see some of them being possible with Dominix V2
but prob not the Initiates not saying it cant be done if u made a switch box very possible I bet Cooper could
prob figure something out he makes good switch boxes well that all for now that i can think
